Don't settle for codeine... I knew someone who had oxy prescribed for migranes, and hydrocodone I believe.

I just went and saw a doctor today for mine... he prescribed Fioricet and a beta blocker. Beta blocker is supposed to prevent them from occuring in the first place, but I won't know for a few days if it is actually working. I can tell you already that the Fioricet is a bit weak for my needs... I will likely ask him to up the dosage.
Still, taking 6 Fioricet over the course of a day is better than taking the 15-30 Excedrin I was before... I was having trouble sleeping from all the caffeine, and I was probably destroying my liver from all the Acetaminophen.
Anyway, the answer is yes. If you have legitimate migraines, you can get narcotics (although Fioricet is a barbituate)

whats the difference? youre using opiates to fix them now..theres no difference if they come from the doctor or your homegrown poppies. I feel like you heard what we said in the last thread but now your trying to justify your use of opiates to yourself by saying if its from a doctor its ok.
idk man. im not an expert on migraines so i dont know what will work best but I can tell you that opiates wont in the long run.

hmm yeah i guess your right and i should only really stick to my homegrown teas when i really need them. kinda was my way of thinking if there from a doctors it would be better but i guess its all the same stuff anyway so might aswell stick to me teas. but also i might try triptan (its a pill that closes blood vessels and is meant to help prevent migraines if you catch it at the right time .

If he is anything like me, getting rid of his migraines is far more important than abusing drugs. Migraines can be absolutely debilitating... if I don't treat mine within an hour, I will end up puking and crying for 2 days. I LOVE narcotics and other pain pills... LOVE THEM... but I will never abuse my migraine medication for one reason: I know that if I do, there will come a time that I will have a really terrible migraine, and I will be all out of meds because I decided to use them to get high. That simply cannot be allowed to happen.
If he has a unlimited supply (home grown), or is simply a drug seeker, then nothing I just said applies though.

thats not what I meant. Im saying you shouldnt use the opiates at all.
is your thinking with this that if you get it from a doctor then your 'mate' wont freak out? which makes sense. I guess if you are going to make the decision to use opiates you might as well go the doctor route then so your gf wont freak out on you. but im telling ya, dont do it

Ahh fuck man now that you point that out that makes sense.
OP you need man up and tell this bitch to fuck off if she has a problem with your drugs. She's obviously not right for you to have such a conflicting view on life.

I also want a prescription because my homegrown opium does run out after a while and my migraines are becoming more frequent.

You're just treating the symptom if you're using opiates medicinally. My girlfriend has had chronic migraines (aura, photophobic, phonophobic, completely debilitating) once a week or so, like clockwork without medication, since adulthood ten years ago...zero migraines with a mild dose of topamax currently...stronger dose when she was younger. Though lately due to lifestyle changes she's been able to half her dose and even be completely off for a couple of weeks so far without incident. In any case, find something that works that's not simply treating the pain, as masked migraines can still cause mild brain damage with enough time. I have had chronic headaches (tension type, TMJ related it seems) daily for a couple of years and didn't have much luck with topamax, though a combination of a clean diet, exercise, some occasional vaping and kratom, adequate hydration and little to no alcohol, infrequent use of moderate doses of mushrooms, meditation, and once or so a month of chiropractic care or acupuncture seems to keep them mild at worst.
I'm in the same boat with treating the pain rather than the cause, but it feels like I'm making progress long term with other treatment methods. Headaches can be miserable, pretty selfish for your friend to get pissed at you using a relatively safe substance to treat them.
