Left over sub after a harvest from fruits.

First off I don't like cutting at the base of mushrooms because I don't like little pieces left over, so I twist and pull then cut off the excess substrate. After I harvested my mono I noticed I had alot of excess sub that I had cut off instead of throwing it away or burying it outside I decided to but it in a sandwich baggy and see if I could squeeze a fruit or two out of it for fun! Well it worked
35g wet.. Didn't dunk it or spray with water, just let it do its thing! I know it's not a lot or nothing special but just thought it was interesting as I usually just toss it.

That's pretty awesome! Nice job.
I thought that it is not a good idea to twist and pull when harvesting from bulk because it tears the mycelium and greatly reduces the amount of fruits from 2nd+ flushes?

Thank you! I've never heard that before, but if I get some clarification on this being true I just might change my harvesting routine.

I'm no expert by any means, so I would definitely get the advice of a senior member with that one. Just what I have read with my browsing. Nonetheless, I like the innovation

You want to cut your fruit as close to the base as possible. If you leave divets in your substrate it will either waste energy repairing the hole, open a spot for contam or just leave a hole.
If you cut and leave a little stump the stump will grow new mycelium and form clusters over the clusters.
Here is my thread showing so.

Thank you! I shall cut at the base for future harvest from now on!
