It leaked on 360 today! :dizope:
I haven't played it yet but I'm downloading now.  Tonight I'm going to play it for hours and I'll be back to tell you all of it's awesomeness.  CAN'T WAIT! :awesome:

He's talking about pirating it.

Please let us know how it is. I still want to buy it because I love Rockstar and their games.

I got overly excited and didn't bother running the ISOs through abgx360, since it's primarily used for 'stealthing' games.  Well, when I got back home where there's no internet, the burns wouldn't work.  I looked it up on my phone and evidently you HAVE to run these files through abgx to update the topology data.  So yeah, I pulled my hair out for a little while.

Now I'm back at work.  I brought my xbox with me.  I'm gonna go back to my friend's who has my iHAS burner tonight, make ABSOLUTELY SURE it works this time, and THEN I'll post.

But I figured someone else around here has a flashed xbox and would have posted by now.  Ah well.

Gah, flashing the firmware on an Xbox is a pain. I did it once, but it was a long ass time ago. I had a Ben-Q Drive.

Best of luck. :sun:

The Quack release is working for me. This game is leaps and bounds better than IV.

Wow.

Switching characters is a pretty neat feature.

The details are pretty good.

The reticule is just a tiny white dot though, quite difficult to use outside at least.

The different walk cycles and hurried animations to get in a car while police are chasing is cool too.

-Goodbye social life,
Vatharul

[Edit: Also, you can install disc one (no DRM) directly to usb (or usb->HD) using xbox image browser and horizon, saves at least one disc, and some time.]

This is the most realistic game I've ever played!
You will find yourself getting pissed at support characters, dick drivers who cut you off... words cannot describe the depth Rockstar has put into the realism this time around.
So impressed.  :bow2:

Grand Theft Auto: iFruit app released

Hurry up and reserve your customized license plate for Sp and Multiplayer.

https://itunes.apple.com/app/grand-theft-auto-ifruit/id697056811?mt=8

Quote:

Description
How would we survive without apps? Apps can transform your mobile device into essential tools like a harmonica, disco ball or convincing moustache. Somewhere out there is the perfect storm of touchscreen technology to fix everything that’s wrong with your life. And maybe all you’re missing is the iFruit app. Maybe not. At least you’ll have something to keep you entertained while your significant other prattles on endlessly about their day.

iFruit hooks directly into your experience of Grand Theft Auto V with some fun activities to further postpone the need for real social interaction. Keep up-to-date on the latest Grand Theft Auto V news, log into the Rockstar Games Social Club, stay connected on LifeInvader and launch other Rockstar Games apps.

Los Santos Customs
The Los Santos Customs app offers players the freedom to create their ultimate vehicle in Grand Theft Auto V from anywhere. At the bar, on the beach, on the toilet. This is the future, we’re almost sure of it.

You can even create and reserve custom license plates for both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online – order your personalized plates before they’re gone!

Also choose from paint jobs, window tints, smoke colors, wheels, hoods and spoilers. Upgrade your engine, brakes, exhaust, suspension, and accessorize with new lights, horns, tires and body armor. Place your order on-the-go and find it waiting for you in the garage the next time you play Grand Theft Auto V, or send your order in while playing and get a call from your local mechanic to swing by.

Everybody’s had some work done in Los Santos, so don’t let your ride be the exception to the rule.

Chop the Dog
Depth of content, high production values, defecation. It’s the app that has it all. Because who doesn’t love tending to a virtual pet? Chop is Franklin’s canine sidekick in Grand Theft Auto V. Look after him well in the “Chop the Dog” app and you will reap the benefits when playing as Franklin in Grand Theft Auto V. Pet him, feed and water him, play fetch and tug-of-war, teach him tricks. Too much or too little of an activity, however, will cause Chop to become unhappy, and nobody likes an unhappy Rottweiler. Take Chop on walks to give him a chance to work off last night’s steak and Piswasser and to mark his turf in the hood - defending his ladies, fending off gang members and even protecting the beach babes of Los Santos from unsightly tan lines by removing their bikinis.

Looking after Chop successfully is reflected in his behavior in Grand Theft Auto V in a number of ways:

•He will be more helpful and responsive to Franklin

•He will perform tricks such as sitting, begging and giving paw if properly trained through the app

•He will sniff out the nearest hidden items when the player takes him for a walk

•Earn enough credits through walks and proper caretaking and exchange them for new collars for Chop

Even better than I thought.... When playing as Franklin, it seemed like everything was alot harder than it had to be. Like I mentioned the bad drivers cutting you off. I punched a random guy as Franklin and immediately got two stars!  But while playing as Michael, the rich white guy, traffic was easy breezy, as though everyone were acting in accordance to make life easier on me! It may have more to with location, I'm not entirely sure yet, but I just want to point out just how many times during the few hours I've played where I went "Ha!"

Yeah, when I first unlocked Trevor, the redneck guy, I stole a VW bus clone, and customized it. Drove a half mile down the road to a random encounter thing (These are neat, robberies, etc you can do on the fly for monetary gain). It was an escaped convict wanting a ride.

I figured, "I bet this guy would give him a lift.", so I slowed down, and tried to let him in.

He pulled a gun, and yanked me out of the bus before I could react.

Thanks to the weapon wheel, I missed the gun I was aiming for, and equipped a grenade launcher, and proceeded to blow up my new bus.

This game is crazy.

There are so many interesting things at play at all times. I won't spoil any missions, I just like to post the small stuff to point out the sense of a living world you get from it. Like just now I was burning down the freeway in the wrong direction when I hit someone. And instead of the scream or "fuck you buddy" I was expecting, the driver goes, "Michael?"
This game feels so alive! Its going to take a hell of a game to ever top it.

True.

I'm actually watching the cinematics because the story is interesting, as opposed to previous games.

Being able to switch to another character in the mission is really neat.

To those of you that have been playing, whats your opinion on the mission rating scales (bronze, silver gold)? Does it make you want to get more headshots? or try doing things that aren't necessarily the easiest way?

[Edit: Update, you can buy safehouses through the realtor websites.]

The PS4 will come out soon.. Graphics will be even more realistic and immersive. Digital worlds that could go on for unimaginable lengths. Each video game would be like its own world, own reality.

dude...me too. I am scared for the world when virtual reality gets better and better..

I read a book once where the whole world spent every second of their free time in virtual reality, and that is scarily realistic to me.

If i could play a PERFECT game of virtual reality dungeons and dragons, what reason would i have to ever leave? I could have more fun than in real life, and I could even mate in the game.

Yeah definitely.

I thought.. Our kids will be like a different species from us. Growing up with virtual reality will completely produce a new kind of mind. A new understanding.

Or it could be the start of a global dystopia

I hate to say it, but I'm really disapointed...

just can't get passed the driving physics, I feel like they took a giant step backwards, like a decade long step... I know some people hated the driving in 4, but it was my favorite part of the game.. sure, it coulda been tweaked a little, but what they did with 5 broke the game for me, driving around just feels, I dunno.. retarded

I wish I could look passed it, as everything else seems pretty slick, but considering how much time you spend driving in grand theft auto, I just can't.

I honestly feel like I'm playing crazy taxi, or that simpsons game

I don't know about realistically but I definitely have more fun driving in V than I ever did in IV. I think this gripe boils down to a personal preference. I do see what you're saying about the driving - it's reminiscent of the older GTAs. But Crazy Taxi? I think that's exaggerating. Feels more like a Need For Speed game to me, and I'd personally rather have that than a Gran Turismo feel.

Damage is a similar gripe. I've been in a couple wrecks in my day - if the damage were realistic then you would total your car almost every time you hit something. So again, personally I'm glad they pushed it farther toward the opposite end of the Realistic/Fun slider.

This is realism:

This is much closer to GTA 4, which had a bit of soft-body physics.  It seems GTA 5 has almost none.

Of course, most of us probably don't want our cars to be THAT soft, for gameplay purposes, but I felt GTA 4 had a nice balance.

When a piece of metal collides with a solid object, it dents. It is farrr too hard to dent the car in this.

and when it does dent, it looks very insignificant.

I agree that 4 had a nice balance between realism and fun. but you're right about it all being about personal preference.

The cool part is, if you have it on PC, you can probably just get mods to make it gta 5, but with gta 4 driving physics. thats my dream.

Superb game. I don't want to call it the "best game ever" yet but... 10/10 for me anyway.

The voice acting and scripting are excellent. I love the characters and the switching mechanic is incredible.

The graphics and audio are amazing, I'm playing it on ps3 through a sony 7.1 channel a/v receiver (hdmi) into a 46 inch 1080p 60hz led tv and surround sound setup. The lighting (especially), weather, live environments, textures, everything is great. Even the worst textures look very nice compared to other games.

As far as driving goes, I like it a lot more than GTA IV. In that game it felt to me like the cars handled like boats. And I personally like the new damage system for the vehicles. Combat mechanics don't seem that different from GTA IV but it works great. There is just too much to say about this game. I'm 50% through and there hasn't been a dull moment yet. This is the first game I have played that has truly felt "next-gen"

so been playing it pretty steady now for about a week.

I STILL hate the fucking car physics/damage model... I mean, I just pulled a backflip in a semi because I pulled back on the stick after a straight ledge... not to mention, I rammed I don't know how many tiny little compact cars, head on, at high speed and didn't even cause a dent in their car... of course, my semi stopped and the driver of tiny little car died... but WTF??... have you seen what happens when a semi hits a tiny car at highway speeds head on??...

anyone set up a car on a freight train rail crossing yet?...

do I want 100% realism... no, fuck no... but I really can't handle this ps2 level crash/vehicle damage either.

when I turn in a vehicle, it's like there is a pole driven straight through the middle of my car... and when I turn, I spin around the pole... does that make sense?

I accelerate to full speed in about 3 seconds no matter what vehicle I drive.. even in a bus/semi.. no feeling of weight in any vehicle, and it seems they all lack suspension?... the dirtbikes/buggies/quads feel almost the same as a sports car... fuck I could go on for awhile here

now... everyone was bitching about GTA getting too realistic?... so they dumbed the fuck outta the car physics, but then made it so you die after getting shot 2 times?, they added too m umm, nouch realism to the combat/character animations (which is still clunky as fuck) and dumbed the fuck out of the driving... my driving skills are 100% on each character, and I haven't really felt a difference yet.

I'm just not having as much fun this time around... sure, the missions are actually WAY better.. and the graphics are sic.. but it seems they missed the part where just driving around and fucking shit up for no reason other than the fact you could was actually FUN AS HELL...

this doesn't really feel next gen to me at all... well, it does when it comes to graphics/map size and trevor is prolly the best character they've come up with so far... other than that, it feels even more outdated than gta 4...

I do NOT want to say this shit, as I have been a die hard GTA fan since the very first one... and had super high hopes for this game.

again.. I AM having a good time playing the missions, but, but I just can't see me playing this installment for 5 years like I did with IV, or even san andreas.... it just feels too cheesy.

my humble opinion of course, and I had a hard time saying it... but I had to get it off my chest... a 10/10?... no... I give it a 7/10 tops... that might change after I finish it though, who knows

I'm so glad someone else can see it. This game totally does NOT feel like an upgrade. Though I do enjoy the low health.

I have been playing it since I picked it up in town at the Gamestop at midnight when it launched.  I have pretty much just been playing that and not doing anything else.

I love it.  Some minor things bug me, but oh well it is still a really good game.

Funny thing is I put money down to hold my copy so I could pay for it when I went in at midnight and they handed me two copies and said it was already paid for.  :smilingpuppy:

I just came to say how I got this game last week and yesterday this happened. I got an E74 Error. Red ring. Woopee!! I'm so appreciative right now!

gotta admit, i popped an Alien in the teeth and blew out the front end of the car on the first mission after the prologue.

 i like that the game has these goals per mission.

EDIT: now i want to go see a movie after getting high and watching some funny ass cartoons with my Aunt, and i just was kinda minda my own bis, and then i was like fuck this guy how honk at this ladie making her across the street, he's going slower then every body, foo! so i jacked up up by honkin' at him a bunch and he got scared and tried to dip in to on coming traffic, trying to turn, he hit an oncoming tram.

FOO!

then i got there... the farthest one and it was closed or some shit... i dunno, but this guy in a Halo suit pushed me after i touched him, and i punched his lights out... and took off to the nearest theater from there.

EDIT: Whoa, the movies get deep and hilarious.

the hilarity never ends. it's 1:00 now right. so i am takin off to go get a gun at the gun shop nearby and (shit i spend too much money to get a pistol i'm shor 40 dollas because of movies and a soda.) and the cops are chasing this guys who is ramming his car up the Cop cars ass through a red light, and then i dunno... they started chasin me and i had to out run them; i made it to the shop, and went and hid my car behind it in an alley, and i hid up some stair case, after futilely trying to break in the locked door, i just laid low until they went away. they didn't go far enough to see my car. i wonder if i ran a red light, or what...

EDIT: when you treat it like your first guy has just had to much PCP laced weed, in the first little while, it makes it make sense... all the stupid shit i do. for example... i just was walkin around after backhanding some guy, trying to talk to them, (i couldn't for some reason) and got them to all chase after me... one guy came up onto the roof and i had to beat him down.  then the cops came so i had to hide up on the roof... then, i had come down to the street and was jogging a bit, and i stumbled right into a group of dudes, and one was starting to say how his friend got ran over... and the guys was *SHOVE* so was like :whoa: and they were like "WTF?"

:smilingpuppy:

so i had to walk away... and when they backed down... i turned back and ran up and punched him in the back of the head.
*first few missions spoiler alert, not including prelude*
it all seems to worked into the story... i came to the first "assigned" mission with a "country bumpkin ass" vehicle that i found on the side of the road; because i thought i could just walk there from my house in peace, after i got really drunk, watched Tv, and slept... but then all this fighting happened. i must be taking out my aggression being that i wanna move up and do something different with my life but i am stuff this crazy nut "salesman" and my "tough" partner, while i don't even wanna do it, i got employee of the month... so i am just so high and shit... :awehigh:
