Here on the West coast of the US, we have a lot of "forest product" based composts, which are basically rotted bark.

I think is better than peat for cactus soils! I hope my cacti will not rot there, till the next year, i will try to find something better than peat..

I use all inorganic mixes for peyote now, less chance of bug problems. Perlite is a good filler material to keep things light and airy. It's annoying how it floats to the top but you can compensate by using a heavier top dressing on top of it. Diatomite gravel is awesome but I can't get its affordably around here, it's light but not too light. It's basically like what you would get if you crushed up some clay pots into gravel, but it's a naturally occurring mineral.

Thanks psi, here we have almost the same weather with chihuahua desert, isnt going to dry out very fast the mix without anything organic there?I mean really fast like 2-3 days max?.. If you think its cool, i should try that mix the next summer!
p.s.
i spot 2 tiny holes on 2 of my lophs, though i dont remember if there was there when i bought them.. I spot a worm on a nearby cactus, so i spray him with pesticide and hoping the holes was there when the lophs arrive to me.. I dont want to mess with there appearance...

I live in a climate with pretty moderate humidity (Great Lakes area, fairly humid summers and dry forced air heating in winter) so what works for me may not work for you. Plastic containers seem to help with moisture retention though, and so does adding in mineral soil from outside if it has much silt or clay content. Keeping a bunch of plants in communal trays with fairly dense spacing also helps.

I have lot of humidity too, bat the temps are pretty hight, most winters are in 15 C minimum maybe some days 10 c and summers are from 28-40 C, so i was thinking humidity is not that an issue, we have like 60-90%..

I don't think peat is inherently bad. It's just all about balance between retention, drainage, and porosity. Just gotta have enough gritty drainy stuff in there. I like pumice.

I like pumice too! I use right now: 1 part gravel (0,2-0,7 mm) 0,5 part limestone (0,5-1 mm) 0,5 part pumice (0,5-1 mm) 1 part bio compost peat based Cant find sand here so i stick up with gravel..
