Uncommon Question about Leaf Litter

I spent a few minutes doing some searching, not expecting much to satisfy my inquiry..
I plan on building a paludarium this fall and am interested in introducing some undetermined myco-species.
whatever i put in there, i want it to be natural to what might be in reality. i to put in some leaf litter that would eventually decompose into the substrate of my paludarium and provide nutrients to some plants (along with all the other stuff i need to add)..
My question is, could i inoculate some leaf litter before i put it in the paludarium? Would i just pasteurize/sterilize the leaf litter at field capacity?
any help from anyone who has a good idea about this kind of thing would be great.
Thanks, as usual! P. Bonsai

That thing the paludarium is awesome. Id like to make one for a snake habitat. Im gonna check it out some more in a little bit.
Leaf litter though? I think you would be better to inoculate woodchips to use instead of leaf.(Pot leaf? ) If you wanted to use leaf litter you would pasteurize and then inoculate at field. Like I said though depending on species wood chips would be way better.

Cardboard could be a good option too. Most mush mush rips through that.

yeah i figured i'd have to pasteurize the leaves. I just cant imagine that getting to field capacity will be a fun experience. I'm curious if its even necessary. I just grew some mushrooms on unpasteurized substrate, and i'm also trying to replicate a natural environment, i just wanna give it a few inoculation points to start at.
cardboard sounds like the best unnatural ocuring alternative. I may consider it. After all, it will be fully decomposed, wont it?
