PNW ID request
    #18835386 - 09/13/13 01:38 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Hi everyone, I'm a brand newbie to the community and this is my first ID request. I'm in the PNW (North Seattle Area) and hoping to do some hunting this year - for actives and for edibles and anything else I stumble upon!

This little find was back in May, and I've been wondering what it is for ages. Hopefully the pictures are pretty informative, and my information is enough.

Habitat:
In a community park, pretty close to a main road/sidewalk, on woodchips around shrubbery

Gills:
Tan brown, attached, gills

Stem:
Around four inches, about pencil thick, light brown, solid, soft of that typical from-the-grocery-store mushroom texture.

Cap:
As you can see in the pictures the caps diameter varies, but I'd estimate an average of about two inches. The caps are a light brown colour, a little bit wavy in the middle but not on the edges like cyans. Smooth texture apart from some of the larger caps that were cracked (like really good snickerdoodles )

Spore print color:
Unfortunately I did not collect a spore print as I was very inexperienced at the time  a mistake I won't make again!

Bruising:
I didn't see any bruising.

Other information:
The mushrooms smelled, if this does any good, like "nature" and the outdoors, but nothing really rancid like fecal matter. Just kind of like a salad.

Some pictures,

Agrocybe, maybe A. putaminum, can you take clear close ups of the stem texture and/or describe it as well as you can?  You can also compare the stem texture with this picture, it could also be another species if the stem texture is different.

The stem texture was a bit like looking at a wood textured door, like vertical lines going down the stem in different shades ranging from white to light brown.

(Thank you for the speedy response! )
