Strep infection, acute pharyngitis, bronchitis, with apparently the onset of asthma
    #18831593 - 09/12/13 08:37 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

So, I'm 28...  Last July, when I was still 26, I started coughing a lot for no reason (had quit smoking a year before).  Went in, doctor said my lungs sounded a bid messed, gave me tussionex, a dulera inhaler, and a Z-pack.  She was concerned I had pneumonia, there was a blur in one lung when the X-ray was taken, so until the specialist X-ray tech guy or whoever could look at it she wanted to treat me for pneumonia.

The cough persists on and off until February... then, in Feb, I almost went out Jim Henson style.  I got a strep infection and it went untreated (my dad kept being a dick and telling me "you can't go to the doctor every time you have a sore throat").  By the time I got in there, I had a raging fever, couldn't really talk or breathe well without coughing, and my throat felt like it was on fire (that's how I knew it was strep that time, that burning feeling as opposed to just a soreness).

Anyway, she said that I had a really bad strep infection, and that it had apparently migrated into my lungs (when she listened to my lungs, she responded "Jesus, Dragonchaser!  Another 2 days and I'd have to send you to the emergency room!".  So, another round of inhaler, antibiotics, and antitussives.

Then, not a month later, in March, I get pneumonia (likely from the original strep infection in my lungs).  More x-rays, blur in my lung.  Anyway, similar deal- inhaler, antibiotics, antitussives.

So yesterday I go to the doc as I had a cough that was worsening since Saturday or so.  Another positive fucking strep test.  Same meds.  Gotta wait to see what the X-ray dude says this time, because she saw a blur in my lung again.  I got my mom to give me a ride (I was too dizzy to feel safe driving), and she mentioned to my doc that my cough which started July 2012 has never fully gone away, but that it comes and goes.

My doc found that unsettling, that I've had a cough for over a year that doesn't want to fully go fuck off.  She said if it doesn't stop after this round of inhaler+other drugs then I need a CT scan, that it could be several things, including the onset of asthma.

Fucking really?  Asthma at 28?  I've never been asthmatic before, and I guess I should say asthma at 26/27 as it started shortly before my 27th birthday.  I'm just frustrated.

Thanks... I'm having employment issues at the same time, so it's kind of a big pain.
