Using a hepa filter on jars...
    #1883078 - 09/04/03 09:29 PM (20 years, 6 months ago)

I have a hepa filter that I don't need (4 came in the box I got), and I was wondering if I should cut it up and use it as the top of my friend's popcorn jar. How would I hold it in place though and make sure its airtight around the sides? Rubberbands? I have a glovebox so that should make the process of attatching the filter safer.

Sounds like overkill. Polyfil or tyvek seem to work fine for grain.

Yes but I have neither. Would hepa work? It only costs like 3 bucks for a replacement.

I would keep it, hepa filters wear out as they get dirty.

Dude... if you have a pillow, you have polyfill. Make a small hole and there you go. I tried the HEPA idea... but hepa is paper-based... Doesnt work well with moist environments. Polyfill works just fine, its cheap, and you sleep on it every nite. Well, thats what I would suggest.

Oh I also forgot.... If, by chance, that any mold spores do come thru whatever gas exchange material you use... unless you rub it on a moldy orange... the mycelium 99% of the time eats the mold spore. Its not really an issue.
