5 minutes after it happened i wish i recorded it, but honestly the entire thing happened so fast i could hardly think. they were only around for about a minute or two. I do treat police like people and i try to make there lifes easier in hopes they will do the same and just leave me to go about my business in peace again.
And to who ever asked, i am quite young still, only 18 so im basically just a child in the eyes of society i suppose
i am just debating now on if i should complain or not to LAPD, but it's not like they really give a shit. I just wish i got the stupid badge number and name of the two officers so i could be more direct about who i am mainly complaining too. I will probably do nothing though knowing myself.

Without probable cause they have no right to search you. however when you did as they asked and placed your hands on the wall you submitted to the searcb. you just had to say no, and if they i.sisted refused, if they arrest you for nothing official yit will be dropped in court. they have to follow the laws too.

Completely false--don't spread misinformation--you don't think pigs can search articles left unattended in public space?
A. Voluntary: A situation where a pig approaches you on the street (but not while driving a vehicle) and initiates conversation. Treat this like an encounter with any stranger on the street--you do not have to answer any questions--you are free to leave at any point--the pigs have no legal right to search you (even a terry pat). you: Officer, I do not consent to a search. Am I being detained or am I free to leave? pig: You are not being detained. you: Goodbye then. *walk away*
B. Detaining: You are not under arrest but, due to a reasonable suspicion, you are not free to leave. The pigs are legally allowed to give a brief search for weapons (a terry pat) for safety reasons, but nothing further. You may also be told to id yourself, and though it's not clear if this is necessary or not (unless operating a motor vehicle) it's often easier to comply. you: Officer, I do not consent to a search. Am I being detained or am I free to leave? pig: You are being detained. you: What is your reason for detaining me? pig: (Bullshit excuse).
C. Arrest: You are now officially the pigs bitch, and they can go so far as shoving their hand up your butt (back at the station of course) in their search of your person. The best you can do here is find out why you are being arrested, and to announce that you will not speak further until your lawyer is present. pig: You're under arrest. you: What are you arresting me for? pig: (Bullshit reason). you: I have nothing further to say until my lawyer is present.
But, one caveat emptor--when dealing with the pigs, they will lie--both to you and their own superiors--keep in mind that, even if no legal right to search exists, pigs may still search you anyways--in a case like this, resist will very rarely be in your interest--rather, hope that you have witnesses recording the encounter.

What do pigs eat?
Doughnuts
Cops are not regular people. They are power tripping fools. I've been illegally searched too many times after telling them no to have the slightest bit of respect for cops. I have dealt with a few decent ones, but the bad ones far outnumber the good ones. Best advice is to try to never give them a reason to mess with you. But if you live on the east coast and you're driving through the Midwest, they may just say you swerved to pull you over and harass you.

See where I'm goin bro? You never, ever, ever give the cops any sort of story regardless of the situation. Whether it be true or not, and whenther your innocent or not. Never say a word to the cops, when they ask you any question at all, tell them you're remaining silent.
The only thing you should ever vocalize to a cop is, "I'm remaining silent" and "I will not give you consent to search my car" Thats it. If they ask your name show them your ID, just don't say a goddamn word.
idk man I mean thats definitely true in some situations but you dont always have to be like that I mean imagine pulling someone over for a broken taillight, routine stop, you walk up and the guys all like "im remaining silent!! you shall not search my vehicle!"

Finally there we go I was a bit worried people in this thread actually thought the police had the right to a detailed search of your body for no fucking reason at all.

Except that if the police really want to search you, they can do so with no reason at all. They'll just lie and manipulate after the fact.

Ops rights were not violated. he complied with the search, erego , he agreed to it. he has no viability for a complaint.
learn your rights op, and don't consent next time. then if they force you, you would have a leg to stand on.

This is true, but it's still beneficial to know your rights.

Aye.
But a lot of police - at least in the Washington area, are required by law to record their interactions with the public. Any trampling on your rights will be caught on camera, which will lend your case -some- credence I'm sure.

Currently suing my city's police department for harassment and property damage.
Long story short, I refused to let them enter my home without a warrant and they got really fucking angry at me
Lawyer says it's a pretty open-and-shut case.

Pretty sure this is 100% WRONG. I do not think anyone in their right mind would consider complying with an officer's instruction to put your hands on the wall, as consenting to a search. It is merely complying with an officer's order. The officer may be (and likely is, at least according to "their" reasoning) telling you to take this position for "their own safety."
If you do not comply with such an order, I can almost guarantee you'd end up in handcuffs, probably arrested for "resisting."
Also, cops do have the right to pat you down in a stop. My understanding is that they can not stop you just to pat you down. But if they have reason to stop you, they can pat you down to search for weapons, again, "for their own safety" (are you detecting a theme here?) Now, if in the course of their patting you down, they feel something "suspicious" that may give them "probable cause" for a further search.
IMHO just reaching in your pocket to take out your wallet may have been riding right on the line, if not slightly on the side of "illegal."
Anyway, while you should probably not consent to a search in a lot of situations, and you should also be vocal about it "Sir, I do not consent to a search," you should never physically resist a cop. If they order you, or are trying to physically manipulate your body, remain prone and/or compliant. That is not to say you should "let them walk all over you," however, the time to fight an illegal search is in court not on the side of the road. Arguing with a cop on the side of the road will only end in trouble for you, 9,999 times out of 10,000.

Oh, perhaps you weren't aware. If memory serves, MushyMatt here wants to be a pig when he grows up. So I guess that's why he's often seen defending the horrid actions of the police.

they were not in a car. they just walked past a dispensary, no probable cause. asking them to put their hands on the wall implies a search. like being asked to step out of the car. if an officer asked a woman to hand over her purse she could refuse, and in no way be accused of failing to comply as she has violated no law and cannot be accused without probably cause. he could have refused to place his hands on the wall and questioned the reason. which would have told him if a search was going to happen, at which point he can refuse.
he has broken no law and does not have to compy to an invasion of his rights.
having complied with the officers orders he agreed to be searched. like handing over a purse.
