Isolating fluffy mycelium?

Sorry I don't have any pics I am new at agar and isolating a strain so I have a question ......... I have some agar dishes that are completely colonized all aver the agar with multi spore .....but it is all fluffy mycelium can I transfer a small piece of the mycelium to another plate and hope that it turns to a rizarmorphic type mycelium? Is that Possible?
Also an unrelated question.....I have some spore prints that I am pretty sure are contaminated ....If I make a couple of syringes out of it and dilute the crap out of it with a bunch of water do you think I will have a better chance of getting a couple of good jars out of it? Thanks guys for your help!!
Here is something to listen to while you think about my questions

you may have to do a few transfers before you even start to see rizo growth. so just transfer the strongest growth you see first

no, if you think they are contaminated either throw them out or put them to agar.

Yeah man if you have agar what are you worried about possibly contamed spore prints for? Any spore print taken outside of a lab environment is possibly contaminated

Contaminated prints, huh? I hope not, lol. Good luck with your agar, though. I have never tried it, but it sounds like fun.

My mycelium shows no rhizomorphic growth so far I'm going to give it about 2 days before transferring... is there any way to promote the growth of rhizomorphic strands?

Next time focus your search using the advanced searched and search for threads younger than 5 years to get up to date info. It's not really necessary to isolate rhizo vs tormentose growth, you're after a clean uniform culture, that is all.
