ID Request - Update

Habitat: Where does it grow? Alongside a trail at the base of white fir. I looked around and there wasn't anything but fir for at least 200 feet in any direction.
Gills: Free, white.
Stem: Smooth. No ring.
Cap: Deeply striate margin, but could this be environmental?
Spore print color: White, but determined by accumulation of spores on dirt under mushroom.
Bruising: Volva bruising reddish brown
I believe this is an Amanita in the vaginata complex, possibly A. pachycholea due to the red/brown stains on the volva.
I was very surprised to find this mushroom growing this time of year. We've had very little rain in the last month, and even then just short thunderstorms. This was the only mushroom I found.
I'm also posting a couple pictures of two Laetiporus that I found last fall. This was my main reason for going out...I thought they might be fruiting. Instead, I find this weird hairlike growth. The growth was on all three of the old fruitbodies I checked, despite two of them being separated by at least 600 yards.
Does anyone think Bigfoot ate my Laetiporus?

**** Update *******
We had a little rain 4-5 days ago, and I found another specimen today. It was several hundred yards away, and in the middle of a power line cut (the first was alongside a packed trail).

How's is going man? Things finally getting started down there? I think we might be in for an excellent season this year!

Nothing starting down here other than irrigated areas in and around lawns. I was really surprised to find the Amanita. The tree it was growing under must have helped it out with a little extra water.
The bright side of fungi being scarce is that I'm forced to appreciate what is there. I'm going to finally get around to trying Marasmius oreades. I've been picking them as they come up in my lawn. I'll cook them as soon as I have at least a mouthful.

Lol @ telling him that when he's wrong.
Amanita vaginata is an European name where the type material is missing. mountainplayer found another species in subgenus Vaginatae, probably should save specimens for ret if you can.

I posted this with the suggestion that I had probably found something in the vaginata group (something close to A. pachycholea). I think Maynard was just agreeing with me.
I have the dried sample. Half of it is going to go to Joe Ammirati, probably around Thanksgiving.
If you, or someone you know is interested in taking a look at the other half, I'd be glad to mail it out.

I meant that he is pretty good in general. I see a lot of his I.D's and they are usually correct.

Yeah, even though he is wrong he is inching very close to having his TI badge.
I would not be opposed.
