Placed a large order with Cynmar and they sent me two free 20pks of three-section plastic petris...but they're not sterile. Any ideas of something else I could use them for or if there is any possible way to sterilize them without melting them? I was thinking bleach/vinegar, or maybe a baby bottle sanitizer.
If those wont work I'll probably just end up giving them to my kids to play with. It was nice of them to send them for free but I dont really know what Im supposed to do with them if they cant be sterilized.

Who sends out non-sterile petris?
Just use the no-pour agar tek in quarter pint jars.

Petris work a LOT better than those no pour jars. Tried the no pour tek awhile back and didnt like it at all. I dont understand the unsterilized petri thing either but they were free.
Anyway I have another idea...a stack of them will fit inside of a wide-mouth quart jar. Anyone think they would melt inside of it if I filled it with water and PC?

I dont think boiling them would completely sterilize them.

You can try to boil them since plastic doesn't harbor endospores but I bet you won't get a good success rate by most peoples standards. If you have time and can afford it experiment as long as it is done in a way that if they do melt they wont ruin your things.
