Plain old tap water is way cleaner than birthing a cake and fruiting it in open air or even touching it with iso cleaned gloves. Your cakes are contam resistant otherwise we would always have to try to fruit in-vitro

PFFFT said: i second that. you want to follow tek that been used for years. shotgun terrarium works best and no pumps needed. also i prefer you to use 65k energy saving or gas lamp. pf tek is the best way to learn how to grow mushies and if you want to lear this hobby you should follow tek.. start small and after that go big
Well said, but I'm afraid advice isn't what his ego needed. It seems to be that it's better to grow less than you could have for cheaper with pride. Maybe he has investors coming over and a SGFC doesn't look tech enough

I'm not looking for any thoughts on how big my flush is or how I should have done x,y and z different guys. This was my first grow ever and I'm happy, let me stay that way lol.
So you know you're doing it wrong? If you knew your were going to build a proper terrarium next time then just say that?
Thanks for being condescending. That helped me a whole lot. (Smh)
I don't think I did anything "wrong" clearly I got results. Might I add, again, this was my first attempt ever. I took a route, went with it and it worked. I appreciate advice but my questions were:
Aborts and why are they all growing on one side.
Which, not surprising no one seemed to answer right off the bat. Instead all I got was criticism and "this is what you did wrong". Thankfully at least one person answered my original question about the one sided growth.
How Bout we focus on answering questions people ask instead of being over bearing "experts" all the time.

Usually that's from bruising.. did you spray them directly with the bottle?

I sort of stood back and sprayed from about 1 1/2 feet away. Granted the water bottle seemed a bit harsh with its spray. I'm assuming this isn't a game changer.

you know.... after reading though this i wanna let you know you really put down some advice that would have SIGNIFICANTLY improved the hobby you have undertaken. If a tek confuses you, re read it.
i would REALLY recommend a shotgun chamber man.
hey and next time you can even put two cakes on top of each other after your dunk and roll and increase your yield. lots of little tips like this you can get from people.
i realize no one wants to be told they did something wrong but.... it would have made a huge difference man...

oh and for the love of god used distilled water.
time and time again you will find it improves over all quality and health of your cakes from inoculation to dunk and roll.
i mean if you have access to the best materials why not use em =D
( i have read and have also noticed my cakes flush better if misted with it opposed to tap and they dont contam as fast) usually

I second this.
Follow the sgfc tek to a T and you can achieve pin sets like this..or even better.

I realize you are stoked about your results and you should be. But the ego needs to be toned down.
I have a feeling those mushrooms will soften that hard head of yours

Nice little pinset you got going. How much on average you pull from a regular cake and MS syringe?

Hoping to get around a quarter first flush off that cake. That pic was almost twelve hours ago. Heres a couple more from just now of my best cakes.

A proper SGFC can yield a pinset like this from a MS injection but everything else has to be right too.

Those are just golden teachers or B+ MS syringe. Each of these tall half pint cakes (not wide mouth)
That blue tint is bruising just handle the cakes gently and get a good misting bottle. It could be the cakes are too try or too soggy too but that's something only experience will help you with maybe someone else could chime in who's seen more cakes that have bruised than I have.
Distilled water is good I never used it but I'll even give it a try for my next grows just to see what it does for me but for what it's worth tap water works well for most people too.

I don't see any blueing on my cakes. I don't handle them and I do have a proper mister.
Also note I said pin sets like this...or "BETTER"

PauliePaul said: I read the pf tek and the shotgun terr setup confused me a bit so I went with a premade package deal just to see if I could even accomplish growing in the first place. I'm all about advise and help but my simplest of questions was why they were growing on one side only. I do appreciate the help though and will double check the shotgun setup next time.
they're growing on side , bottom etc. because humidity collects only on one side of cake.mostly cakes fruiting on bottom and it is a cause of not well misting. you should use good ol' water sprayer, man. and it would be better if it would spray as small drops of water as possible.
p.s.
use the search function. it helps ALOT.
