Android is a linux operating system which is based on a Unix-type kernel. MacOS is also built from a Unix kernel.
Obviously you are a fanboy of Unix flavored popcorn. Personally, I prefer butter.

I used to think exactly like you. I thought there was no way it could be worth it. Well laptop after laptop kept breaking, so I finally put some money down and got a MacBook Pro.
It's way better. Easy to use, built well, sleek, minimal viruses, a LOT of applications. I don't think I could go back from Macs, they're just a really great tool. I'm not a snob about it or anything, they're just far better in my opinion

ok, you find me another 4.4lb 15" laptop with a 2880x1800 ips display, 768GB ssd, and better than a nvidia 650m gpu on a 4.4lb 15" laptop.....and that I can have its warranty serviced in a 10min walk from my house.... it's undeniably a sweet piece of kit if you factor in portability and specs...

The best thing about having a mac is doing the "ohhhh you have a pc......"
I dont even care if they have a PC i just know it trolls some people so hard. People like OP sound pretty mad about mac users for god knows why so why not grind their gears up a little more for the lols.
By the way Microshit sucks ass, My laptop(MacBook Pro) zero problems ever. My Desktop (hp something) a BSOD, Freeze, or some inconvenience is guaranteed each time i turn it on.

Macs have the same processors and hardware now as PC's. So I don't see how they could be better built. I built my own PC, its really well built. Now, half the hardware I use and a good portion of my specialized software, well, you can't find either mac drivers for the hardware, or the specialized software.
the better operating system is Microsoft, if it wasn't, the majority of people would be using MACS, and the software sections of big stores like Frye's would have 10 rows of MAC software and 2 rows of Microsoft software. Instead, it is just the opposite.

lmao I love the blatant troll after explaining you like macs so you can troll people.
I'll take the bait.
I never have any viruses on my windows (A Mac is still a PC, silly) and honestly I've forgotten that BSOD even happened to people. Maybe you should stop downloading beast porn.

Well, if I was investing, I would buy the product that sells 10x as much as the other one. If it was that superior of a product, it would overtake it.
MAC survives now on name brand, I would have a hard time finding someone who could convince me it is any better. Maybe as a COMPUTER it is better, as an operating system I'm sorry, Microsoft owns it. if it was a better operating system everyone would be using it.
It's kind of like the Linux argument. Oh, Linux is so much faster, it doesn't get viruses, its more efficienct, blah blah. Oh year? Try using Linux, in 10 minutes people say 'fuck this shit'
People put down microsoft and truly they do some dumb, stupid fucking shit. But if you get it set up right, the memory management, file system, and stability of windows 7 is just as good or better than Apples OS.

incidentally, besides my 2880x1800 res internal lcd on my retina macbook pro, it also has two 27" 2560x1440p monitors hooked up via mini displayport (two thunderbolt ports) and an additional 1080p screen through HDMI atm, 4 discrete outputs simultaneously... hell of a lot of screen real estate for a laptop, makes for a really nice desktop replacement... can't really think of another laptop that can do that off the top of my head.

how much does that hardware cost?
By the way, I had 2500 resolution on windows XP with an old Sony trinitron CRT monitor.
The fact that you have great hardware on a system has nothing to do with how good the OS is.

I don't really care what you would do as an investor, nor do I see what that has to do with anything.
To think there is an objective "best" is pretty foolish though. They all have their positives and they all have their negatives. It's almost like different people like different things. Fucking crazy, I know.

It has been a while. But the soundcard I have, and half the specialized music software I use, won't work on Linux. SO why would I ever consider it?

Don't get me wrong, I'm an avid user of Windows, I have a custom built desktop w/ i7-2600k @ 4.5ghz w/ 16gb ram and evga gtx 670 ftw.... but i also have a 15" rMBP, a 13" MBA, and a mac mini server.
There are some incredibly compelling reasons to use both operating systems... windows has better graphics drivers, directx... side by side native 3d accelerated apps virtually always perform superiorly in Windows with the same graphics card.
And there are so many reasons to pick Windows to pieces, especially with its current rendition, Windows 8..

I've heard windows 8 sucks wet donkey balls. But i'm using 7 and it is VERY stable, and works great with the music applications I use. It is undoubtably the best system I have used for music production.

Ultimately it depends on what you use your computer for. I have a hard time taking any power user seriously who swears by macs...but if you want to simply turn it on and it to work then I hear they're great.
Personally I like being able to tinker with ever last piece of hardware and software on my computer, I like to be able to remove shit that's pissing me off, tweak every last configuration and make it do exactly what I want it to do, not what other people think I should want it to do with no compromises. Windows allows a somewhat limited degree of freedom, but I'm still locked into a closed system. With any apple product ever, you have no real choice as to what the core os does, you're kind of expected to expect things to just work.. and if it doesn't buy an apple compatible piece of hardware / software (which is nearly always more expensive than the windows counterpart). One of my friends recently bought a Macbook Pro, and you have to buy an apple licensed adapter for hdmi to work.. That's pretty much a core component of any graphics card on any other type of laptop at the moment... Why would you make it an accessory? Think different. $$$ .
I know OSX was based on NeXTSTEP & forked from BSD... many many moons ago, but the way the underlying os handles compared to any of the open source versions of BSD I've tried (open, net & free) is vastly different..
I've never owned a mac because I can't justify paying that amount of money for that particular / software configuration, when I could build something much more powerful, that I have complete control over for a 1/3rd of the price. I do like some of the innovations that OSX gui has brought to the desktop & have consequently stolen them and mashed them up with the parts of the windows gui I like to give me the user experience I'm looking for (I run gentoo for anyone that's wondering ).
tl;dr - my computer experience is about me, not about what other companies tell me that I want, and apple seems to be worse for it than Microsoft (although Windows 8 is absolutely atrocious).
