Hi!
I'm a Londoner and have been keeping an eye out for P. cyanescens for a couple of years with no luck, until today. But I'm only 85% sure and would appreciate confirmation! The specimens I found were very old, insect or slug-eaten and dry looking, so they certainly don't look quite right, they don't have lovely caramel caps with a nice wave. However, the blueing is pretty striking. There were no young ones, all were very pale coloured, like liberty caps when they're dry. I don't think I'll be eating these ones, but if they're cyans then I'll take some of the woodchip and start a patch! The habitat is woodchip under roses in a park. Lots of bark in it, which I read is not ideal.

This is the stems cut through to remove bugs!
I've got more pics if that would help. Thanks for your opinions!

Those first two in the first pic... They're scaring me. I can't stop thinking "Galerina". Are the two stems on the left in the last photo from those caps as well? They just look different... All the rest look fantastic, and I'd eat them.

Thanks so much! the stems of the ones in the first picture weren't those ones, they actually became quite blue later.

But you're right that there's a couple of stems that didn't stain blue when I cut them. I think I have an intruder or two in the collection, and I think I've worked out which! I think I have at least one Stropharia pseudocyanea, based on google images. it's faintly grey bluish all over but doesn't go blue when you cut or bruise it. It's the one second from the left in the middle photo. Now I've gone back to check, it distinctly smells mushroomy, whereas the others don't, the flesh has a different texture, the gills are lighter and it has a tough jelly skin over it, which the others don't. Wow, it looked so similar! Here's another photo of it, on the right.
Overall, I'm not confident enough to eat any of these, and they're a bit maggotty! So I'll watch the spot and also collect some chips, so I can get some nice fresh ones.

Yes in the first set of photos, second photo, I would only eat the three mushrooms on the right, and the lower left lone cap.

Wait; those are speaking to me. They're saying "I might actualy be an Inocybe. You should spore print me."

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Them pics above ain't wavy-caps, but these are I just found two massive patches of them, and these must be the second flush because there was a good amount of black rotted ones mixed in.
Would these mushies thrive in silver birch chippings does anyone know ? there's some huge piles of it not to far from me that could do with inoculating I think

I've thrown them all out, thanks everyone who helped! Yup, I'm pretty sure now they were all stropharia. http://www.naturespot.org.uk/species/blue-roundhead
I went back to the spot and found some stropharia nearby that hadn't faded, alongside some that looked like the ones I picked.

So a really important lesson learnt! If the stems have blue on, and several other things look about right, it isn't enough to confirm ID!
It's easy for amateurs like me to fall victim to confirmation bias. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias
Now I'm really jealous of fantasticfungus!
