Did you already open the tub? Don't soak up the puddles until you introduce it to fruiting. You don't want to expose it to FAE until it's ready to fruit.

Opening the tub to snap a quick picture is not going to hurt anything.

Hey notahacker.
Got any pictures of how grains(wbs or rye) look fresh out the PC?
Keep looking but can't seem to find any.
Thanks.

Why?

They will be darker in color, because you cooked them.

They should be dry on the outside, and bounce around the jar like BBs....

I don't know, I personally still wouldn't.

You don't know what?

You don't know that pasteurized substrate material is contam resistant?

You don't know that fully colonized spawn is contam resistant?

You don't know that when you spawn the tub, it is done in open air, so there are already millions of contams mixed into the substrate?

Well now you do.....

If the tub did not contam from spawning in open air....then the chances of it contamming from opening the lid for a second or two to snap a pic are slim to none....

I wasn't referring to contamination, more so about introducing it to fruiting conditions by opening it and then putting it right back into colonization..

So you're supposed to soak up puddles before fruiting? Also, after it's colonized fully, you give it a few more days to let it consolidate? When there's knot's...which are hyphae? then introduce it to fruiting conditions?

You, as I once was, seem to be under the assumption that when opening the lid, you release all the co2 buildup, and in turn, put into fruiting conditions, and that co2 buildup won't get back to the measure it was before lifting the lid.

I was told this was a cardinal rule not to be broken.  Until I was told, and eventually found to be otherwise.

Opening the lid will release co2 yea.  But it will build back up in no amount of time that would make any sort of noticeable difference

As for putting it into fruiting conditions, you need a constant flow of FAE to initiate fruiting for the most part. A little peek surely does not hurt.

The chances are all the same no matter what.

The chances aren't all the same no matter what. If he had a sterilized substrate, spawning in open air would mean certain contamination.

I have noticed opening it and then closing it back up has initiated fruiting or atleast drastically slowed the tail end of colonization. Maybe other factors were possibly playing a role here, however I'm not sure so I'll have to test this again. Appreciate the input.

Yes they are the same... Who the hell sterilized substrate? Whoever that is, they're growing wrong....
