slowing cake growth

Hello shroomery! I've been lurking for quite a while waiting for the right time to make a post. I'd say its finally about that time. I decided to follow PF Tech by the book. I inoculated 8 jars of brf around three weeks ago and they've been colonizing great! better than I ever expected, very healthy rhizomorphic mycelium. They are just now fully colonized and there are even a number of pins showing up inside the jars! I'm going to leave them for another seven days to consolidate then its into the FC. Now here's the problem, In seven days I'm going to be heading down to California for 5 days. its not something i can avoid and i need to know how to keep my mycelium healthy until i can get back and properly fruit it. I've heard you can put them in the fridge to slow the growth and i was wondering if that's the best option, or should i just fruit them without consolidating them for the seven days i have left? I could also just let them sit, but that's 12 days of just sitting fully colonized and doesn't seem right. I'm also concerned about what will happen to the pins, there's quite a few of them and about 30 or so hyphal knots. Any input at all would be very appreciated. I will also post pics if needed.

I would throw them in the fridge to stall the mycelium until you're ready to fruit them.

So i should consolidate and then put them in the fridge to stall em? Will that effect the pins negatively?

Well, I'm pretty new at this myself, but I don't think it will have a negative impact on your shrooms. I just rescued some jars from a few days in the cooler due to every store in my area being sold out of verm. The jars had to recover for about a day or so, but now they're going on like nothing ever happened!
I read a post by Frank recently where he suggested storing jars in the fridge to put them on hold, and he's like the mushroom god, so yeah.
One thing though, if your jars are pinning in vitro I'm pretty sure that means they're ready for fruiting conditions right away. You might want to go ahead and stall them, then fruit them as soon as you get a chance.
Good luck!

Any cakes you've got pinning on put in your FC, they'll be done in seven days, if they aren't pinning refrigerate them.
