True Horror Movies

I surmise that there are three kinds of horror movies. Some of them mix all the elements, some not.
1. The movies that attempt to horrify you by getting very quiet or having a person creep down a hallway and then, BAM, a loud sound happens and the audience jumps.
2. The movies that attempt to horrify you by presenting sadistic torture and mass amounts of gore.
3. The movies that, due to a vast possibility of variables, leave you sweating in fear.
I like a little bit of #1 and #2, but I love a movie that really puts fear into my heart. Whenever the rare movies like that pop up I remember being a little boy watching horror movies, loving the rush of fear.
I really loved The Descent when I first saw it. It instilled some amount of fear into me. I hate Hostile and Saw. I hate Paranormal Activity.
Like I said, I don't really like an overly amount of gore or jumpiness, but I do like an appropriate amount. What I am looking for is probably story.
What current or semi-current horror movies can you recommend to me that may instill fear into my SOUL!

I will have to check that out.
Actually I loved Quarantine. That was a great one. Usually I am not a fan of video camera based movies, but that movie was truly creepy to me.

Sadistic torture isn't horrifying in the slightest. Disturbing to some, but not horrifying.

I just watched The Conjuring.
Nothing special, but definitely worth my time. I give it a 7/10.

I like a good 80's horror movie with a slow walking madman and plenty of rocking 80's bush.

I like a good mind fuck. I hate category 1 becuase I always know when its coming. Predictability is horrible. The only movie that has ever scared me was the exorcist.
Shits creepy as fuck.

[REC] was pretty good, I didn't bother with Quarantine because it looked like a shot by shot remake
I just watched I spit on your grave and was pretty creative justicepornhorror.

I watched them both.
I really love the concept of 5 bite sized horror flicks all in one movie. I'd say V/H/S 2 was a bit better than 1, however both had a couple awesome stories.

I saw The Conjuring I think if you already seen Insidious you will spoiled and this movie will lose its punch It isn't bad and there are some really cool parts and it is shot well I think it is is solidly slightly above average and recommend it to horror fans who want another notch on their belt.

Quarantine was the American remake of Rec. Quarantine 2 has literally nothing to do with any of the Rec movies.

I liked it, I got goosebumps throughout. It's a true horror for sure, I'd rate it a solid 7/10.
