It was the Observer (the Sunday version of the Guardian) that first reported the election scandal where Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris illegaly scrubbed tens of thousands of minority voters from the voting lists in Florida, effectively preventing Al Gore from winning Florida (and the country). They printed the story in November of 2000. One of the only American news outlets to reprint the story at that time was Salon.com, another "biased" news magazine.

It's a shame that people hate these biased papers, because they're the only ones willing to report about things the mainstream media knows we don't like to hear. Personally, I prefer to know the full truth about what's going on, I don't need a conservative paper to censor the "ugly" stuff from me. Although you can accuse the Guardian of having a liberal bias, you can't accuse them of making up stories.

I want a news source that is not biased. I don't considering biased reporting the truth at all.

Sadly, since there is no such thing (well fox comes close) all you can do is follow this simple rule..............
Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.

--------------------
You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

The problem is no one reports news anymore. They have to insert their analysis.

The problem is, if you report to the right, the right loves you and the left hates you.  If you report to the left, the left loves you and the right hates you.  If you report in the middle, the right hates you AND the left hates you!  :smirk:

That is probably true somewhat. I personally don't want a reporters opinion in my news. Give me the damn FACTS, and STFU! If I want analysis I can watch O'Reilly, or a million other news analysis shows.

Even if a news report just stuck with the facts, each channel still has to decide what news is worth reporting and what to drop (there's always more news than can possibly fit into a tv show or newspaper). Those decisions inevitably will create a conservative/liberal bias.

I can see that to a certain extent. The blatantly biased reporting we usually see is much worse than this though.

I respectfully disagree. If you reread the original article that started this discussion, I think the only thing that was printed with a "bias" was the opening sentence. Everything from that point on was just the facts. By the time you get to the end of the article, you would probably conclude that the opening sentence was appropriate. So what made the story biased, in my opinion, isn't a bias in wording, but rather a bias in the facts it chose to report on.

The Bush administration suffered a humiliating diplomatic climbdown over Iraq yesterday as it presented a draft resolution to the UN, asking for military and financial help to rescue it from the ballooning human, financial and political costs of the occupation.

This statement sets the biased tone for the entire article. The resolution is being sought so other countries that want to help can. Over two dozen other countries already have troops in Iraq, the others just want UN approval to send theirs in. There is nothing humiliating about it.

Bush decided that the UN was irrelevant when he invaded Iraq, and that he didn't need their approval for his actions. Now, he realizes that in order to get the support he wants, he needs to get UN approval. I'd say that's pretty humiliating.

The UN secretary general, Kofi Annan, has made it clear that he does not want UN blue helmets to be deployed in Iraq.

And why should the UN send in troops? They protested this war from the beginning. The only thing they were concerned with were the damned inspectors, and at one point they were allowed in, and then Bush decided it wasn't good enough, he kept pushing for more and more..

Everytime a war is started with the UN's protest, I don't think that they should have to be expected to go and clean it up. I think they are more concerned with peace, not just coming in with a mop and a bucket..
Peace.
