HELP! Questions First MONO Attempt - Pics And Updates Along the Way

 PE
 EQ
Hey duders,
So this is my first mono attempt. I have 16 quarts of rye spawn. 8PE and 8EQ. They have been incubating for a little over a month and seem to be coming along nicely.
Here are some of my questions/concerns that are a little gray to me.
-Once a quart is fully colonized how long can It be in the jar before it goes "bad"?... if you will. (curious, cause some are much farther along than others)
-Also would like to hear some *SPAWN to SUBSTRATE RATIOS*. Yes, I have looked all over the forums. I saw many different opinions and ratios. (I will be using 8QUARTS spawn per tub)
-What are thoughts on ordering pre-pasteurized substrates?
-What are preferred brands of verm?
I greatly appreciate any experienced knowledge to these questions. I will also be updating with photos all the way through the grow.
-Thanks for reading

I am still a noob but from what I have read with my lurking is around a 3:1-5:1 subtrate:spawn ratio is what most people use. Although 1:1 always works
I have looked into the pre-pasteurized sub online, it seems as though the shipping is just as expensive as what you're buying. You'd probably be better off just pasteurizing it yourself.
And as for the verm; not necessarily a brand but fine or medium grade verm seems to be what is recommended.
Hope this helps!

Man, I can't believe nobody jumped in to help you, I must have missed this yesterday.
>Once a quart is fully colonized how long can It be in the jar before it goes "bad"?... if you will. (curious, cause some are much farther along than others)
It really won't "go bad" for quite awhile, even longer in the fridge. It could possibly dry out, but that's nothing that dunking your grains before spawning won't help sort out.
>Also would like to hear some *SPAWN to SUBSTRATE RATIOS*. Yes, I have looked all over the forums. I saw many different opinions and ratios. (I will be using 8QUARTS spawn per tub)
Anywhere from 1:1 spawn:sub to 1:3 is ideal. The more grain you have, the faster it will colonize.
>What are thoughts on ordering pre-pasteurized substrates?
Never done it, seems like a waist of money though.
>What are preferred brands of verm?
Whatever the local garden store to where I'm currently living at the time has.

Hey buddy I got a question. How long did it take from inoculation for you to see signs of growth? And how many CC's each jar? Thanks bud!

Use 1cc per jar. And it could take from a few days to over a week to see growth.

For quarts you want .5cc per side of the jar. Most recommend 2cc per quart.

Also can anyone tell me why the EQ are colonizing "slowly" and if they seem to be coming along fine, as far as EQ goes anyways. (never worked with it before)

It's the same as any other MS cube....random as fuck....sounds like you just got shitty genetics.....or your moisture content is off.

UPDATE: Been fruiting for 7 days (consolidated for 15 days)
It is my first attempt so I'm having a little trouble dialing in on RH just right. Plenty of light comes from two windows all day. Temps are ~73 and I used 3.5 inches of 50/50+ for my bulk sub.(I saw that some people used 50/50+ as their bulk sub and not just as a casing, not sure if this was a bad idea )
Lemme know if you guys think everything looks ok ?!?
Also how long after a tub moves to fruiting should you see pinning?

Never heard of of anyone using 50/50+ for a bulk bit but it looks like the mucelium colonized it well. Looking real nice. Do you see any knotting yet?

50/50 refers to a casing layer.
Damion5050's bucket tek is not 50/50.....it's more like 80/20.
I think OP got this confused.....as there is no casing layer.

I think it can be referred to as "cased grain" sometimes. The 50/50 is considered "non-nutritious" and therefore is considered a casing (by definition). Is it a bulked grow? Yep. What will happen after the first flush and subsequent flushes will show how the nutes are being spent. It may not deliver predictable 2nd and 3rd flushes as the mycelium pulls all the food from the grain spawn.
Either way Static88, your tub looks spectacular! Good luck, and do keep the info incoming. I am curious as to what happens with this after the first flush.

No, it would just be considered cased grains......
If there is no bulk substrate, then it is not considered a bulk grow.

Haha thank you guys so much for your replies, I'll take all the help and info you guys can dish out.
Not 100% sure of what to take from all your answers lol but I think you're overall saying I'm good for the first flush, at least.
Considering this is my first tub, is there any instances where a tub like this looks well colonized, but still will do nothing?
I will definitely keep updating all the way through this tub! Again I appreciate any help, thanks again duders.

So what exactly did you use for your bulk substrate? Not the 50/50+ casing layer?
Ps. I know what a casing layer is lololol I was just suprised to think that you might have actually used a casing layer in place of a bulk sub.
And hows it coming along OP? Any knotting or pinning yet? One day pins will just pop up and youll be excited as hell

Update: 18 Days after intro to fruiting
And yes I used the 50/50+ casing as a bulk sub, aka (straight cased grains). Again, I am unsure if this was a HUGE mistake or if at least I'll get a decent first flush.
Full daylight is givin, which isn't much in the winter so I have some LED's run at night on very overcast days. RH isn't an issue and temps stay around 73-76F.
It's a learning process, but I hope this isn't a bust. Lemme how you things are lookin guys.
