peacefull protest
    #18817746 - 09/09/13 03:28 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Is it a bad idea to try and start a massive peaceful protest for the decriminalization of shrooms? Kind of like how 420 is with marijuana.

It's a delicate subject. While the cause is good, I think if it became public and escalated that there'd be a lot of irresponsible people and kids tripping that could cause irreparable damage to the psychedelic movement as a whole.

It'd be naive to think it would all go smoothly. Marijuana is one thing, psychedelics are another thing all together.

Then again... Something needs to change. There are people in prison because of the legal statuses of shrooms and other psychs. That's not right at all.

Much like a trip, it could turn disastrous or it could work out beautifully.

Is the world ready? Is the set and setting right?

Well it is a good cause, but realistically that's probably how your protest would end up looking :

And you have to understand that to most people, shrooms are an evil drug that will make your brain bleed and will make you see horrible things, so what you should do is educate people. Trust me shrooms won't be decriminalized any time soon.

"Into The Woods", I believe children who want to do shrooms will get there hands on it wether or not its illegal or decriminalized. This may be a little off topic but shrooms have been proven to relieve cluster headaches from those people who suffer from them which nothing else may have helped. Cluster headaches are very painful. To throw these and other innocent people in prison for possessing shrooms is wrong and unjust.

Shrooms are very hard to find here....

I think it's good they're illegal, makes the experience more special when you finally find them at the right time in your life

Most teens are not ready for the psychedelic experience IMO, they're not even ready for alcohol/weed...

Psychedelics are more powerful

Adults on the other hand can easily decide to grow them and ready about them
they're not easy to grow either unless you know what you're doing, which is good

They should be respected, treated as sacred, because they are

Set,setting,dose always

Imagine what would happen if all teens could get shrooms from their Weed dealer...

they would drink 12 beers and take 7g shrooms with them and freak out , kill themselves / others

most of them are not ready

here you get your ass kicked from asking about shrooms from the weed dealers, which is good :-)
it shouldn't be readily available without information

the only sensible way would be like they did in NL, where they would sell in packages to people over >xx years, with nice images on + information

when I was <20 years I drank alcohol 2-3 times per week
had I done shrooms instead, I wouldn't have gotten an education, but be on the street instead

because they have a longer afterglow + mindfuck after
they can't be done 2-3 times per week and still function with school work IMO

weed can though I've heard, but not shrooms I think

"mio", If shrooms were legal and decriminalized most black market sellers, not saying all are bad people, would go out of business because most people would get it the easy way ( At the headshop )therefore that quite possibly may make it easier to regulate and sell to people who are of age only. shrooms come and go but when there around its easier for a underage person to get it illegally then to ask some stranger to buy it for them legally. It depends how shy the person is, though, I guess. Not barking or anything just joining the discussion.

yeah, in the 60s everything was legal

I think people growed up faster back then and learned what they shouldn't do

i.e. not take 600ug lsd before class or before driving to work ;-)

it grows you, let it all be legal, let stupid people die out

I wouldn't mind if all drugs became legal, and only actions should be punished

and I think consciousness expansion is a human right
at 10 years old,at 20 years, at 100 years

it might be beneficial at any age, just like meditation/lucid dreaming usually is.

but the most beneficial thing is letting people run their own lives, and face the consequences of own actions
let them shoot heroin each day if they want

I think science could benefit a lot from psychedelics being legal for research purposes (also scientists being able to take them, for their own personal research - then we would have fusion and be on mars now, we can't solve problems by thinking inside the box, we need creativity to solve new problems)

"mio", I like how you brought education into the discussion because people need to be educated on shrooms and how many other legal common drugs are way more addicting and dangerous then shrooms. I would rather my child, if I had a child, do shrooms now and again illegally then get hooked on a pharmaceutical opiate analogue or any of the other legal crap out there including alcohol. I may just be slightly biased though because I like to do shrooms. Off topic again. I myself was an alcoholic once it destroyed my life but when I did shrooms it changed something in me and I've been sober ever since that day.

Alcohol and weed doesn't do much for me

only LSD / shrooms are worth putting in my body rarely

I used to drink a lot, my liver was like an aloholics at 19 my doc said - used to drink several times a week for years and eat unhealthy too etc.

LSD filled me with gods love everyday since that day :-)
love for all things, and everything I see, love for self like many years ago that I had almost forgotten too

and the reason LSD did that is because it made me appreciate nature and everything I have, everyday

impossible to become unhappy, also when realizing there are no coincidences

but no words can fit LSD, except infinite love, infinite beauty, appreciation,  total acceptance, and communication with a loving entity

even better than shrooms, but shrooms are good too (and can be very spiritual too)
can hardly tell the difference between lsd or shrooms sometimes

after egodeath it has all lasted, happy everyday like first time I saw the world

"mio", if you would like to get more involved in the legalization of shrooms then look at my thread "The Shroom Movement", and spread the word. once shrooms are legal People might start looking at LSD a little differently (in a good way).

Seriously, the fact that you want other people to go to prison so it makes the "the experience more special" is beyond any reason. Please grow up.

OP, don't let them talk you down. Even though I believe all drugs should be legal, I can assure you that your cause is right.

Just because you drank that often doesnt ran you'd trip that often too..

I drank that much when I was younger, I also did sh rooms. I found that when I did shrooms , my desire to do drugs in general would die down for a little while afterward and I actually did less drugs overall.

there's no such critter as a peaceful protest, you're thinking of a
demonstration or a rally, with protest, the cops show up and start
clubbing people and pepper spraying them
