Dont most teks say to cook jars for 1-1 1/2 hours in PC's?

One hour once it reaches pressure has worked fine for me with 1/2 pint jars of grains. I would cook larger jars longer to make sure you get heat penetration (but I have never used bigger than a pint). You also must take into account the temperature difference between what you were cooking (half-frozen meat compared to jars at room temp), it will obviously take longer to heat up frozen things.

It takes my PC a bit of time to reach pressure (probably 15-20 minutes or more). During this time im sure the jars get quite hot. Then, once pressure is reached they are cooked for another hour, and then allowed to cool till pressure is released (I think if you release the pressure manually by moving the rocker, you run the possibility of boiling the water in the jars, and out of your grain). All this time adds up, the most important thing is not to rush the process. It is one of the most important steps if you want sterile spawn.

ok, last night i pressure cooked 6x250mL brf though i ran out of water at the 40min mark. there was a good head of steam coming out at 15psi the whole time (until the water ran out, of course). so, after a little longerr on dry heat i let it cool.

question: are my jars gonna be too dry now, that ive baked them? should i re-cook just to be sure? or just straight innoculate and consequences be fucked? i also thought i smelled "burning".

addidtionally, if im colonising these 6x250mL mycelium inside a sterile garbage bag, how often am i gonna hafta change the air in there to keep CO2 buildup down? should i just build an air filter to vent it continually? do i change the air every day/week, what?
