My motivation to keep living is to be able to keep experiencing drugs.
    #18816945 - 09/08/13 09:49 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

The reason to have a job: afford drugs.
Altered state of consciousness > sober
If I can't do drugs anymore then I rather not live at all. God this sounds a little pathetic reading it out.

Is this a problem?

What are your thoughts in all seriousness?

My serious thoughts are that I used to be in your shoes when I was a lot younger.  All I gave a damn about was getting blazed or snorting or popping something.  There always had to be a drug waiting for me by the time I got off work.  Shit, half the time I couldn't even wait until my shift was over before I started indulging.

I say enjoy the phase while it lasts but if you continue to feel this way about life in say, 10 years or so, then you might have a problem on your hands that needs to be dealt with.

Many people claim that drug use/abuse saved their lifes, otherwise they would have killed themselves, I believe them.

It's not a very popular notion, but sometimes staying sober when the emotional pain is so strong is a dangerous combo, drugs can create a nice escape that can actually be healthy, we know this is not a long term solution, but it can be effective.

My drugs of choice are mainly psychedelics, daily use of cannabis, occasional use of dissociatives, and not a fan of alcohol but will socially drink.

I don't go to important things high, but I do try to weasel my way out of a lot of things because I rather get stoned out of my mind.

Is it just because we are conditioned to believe drugs are bad that I believe this to be a problem?

Psychedelic use has showed me a new beauty in life, but also showed me that sober living just isn't for me. But with weed, I get high, enjoy it greatly, come down, then pack another one and when I'm out I can't stand it, I can't stand being sober

it's just a phase
right now you're content with life only if you can escape the harsh reality of infectious culture.
i'm pretty sure what would truthfully help is a drastic change in your environment and it's setting.

I should/could have killed myself a long time ago but realizing that the world is pretty damn big and the area that is truly effecting my mental health is small has kept me alive with purpose. Though i've come to understand there is no ultimate purpose to life, we are alive. As i'm typing this someone else is in the process of dying and not being able to experience it tomorrow.

am i cynical for thinking a lot of people in general are fucking drones who don't question a goddamn thing about their surroundings and scaled environment?  Maybe i've just ate too many mushrooms to realize that these superficial games that we all play are pretty much pointless and serve no true purpose as a collective humanity down to the individual self. The culmination of the human era is still trying to find personal identity, hahaha. what a fucking joke. hahahahaha

Being sober isn't so bad if you are focused on doing something that YOU really want to do.  The drive to do certain tasks becomes greater than the drive to get high.  Don't you have any other passions in life besides getting high?

To experience drugs is also my #1 reason for living .

….but,  -in my opinion- you should try to find also “something else”, beside the "psychedelic experience".  Nobody can live all time, for all his life,  stoned/tripping , and there are a lot of things that you can enjoy better sober than stoned.

“Nothing in excess” is an ancient rule of wisdom...

This.  Altered states of consciousness bring my life meaning.  Many cultures have their 'drug loving' individuals, sometimes referred to as the shamans, given the individual has the appropriate cultural backing.  We are the drug users of this culture.  All is normal.  Carry on.  :lsd:

That task is so much easier with drugs, shrooms/psychedelics especially. They strip away all of the bullshit, and I always come back with a strengthened resolve and renewed appreciation for the few people/things I honestly love in life.

A person who can truly use drugs will give themselves a better shot at finding and maintaining happiness and peace. Make the drugs work for you!

But its also like a simple buzz won't do it. I just smoked a bowl and I'm decently high and if I was higher I would be stoned. I'm definitely goin to get stoned now but why can't I settle for less? All I have is a gram till I can scrounge up another $20 or catch a buzz from a friend

When you have things worth living for (family, kids, a career you love, traveling, ect) drugs will take a far backseat.

The problem is sometimes drugs can keep you from finding or seeking out those things worth living for.

Moderation is key with drugs just like anything.

Sorry, but if you think getting married and having a family life is a cure for drug abuse, you are very naive.

Yes, in some cases it helps people out of their "party stage", but in many cases the addiction and drug abuse still remain, and they still have the perfect life on the outside, yet on the inside they still abuse drugs.

I didnt say those were cures to drug abuse but more that when you get them you sometimes realize your priorities change. Drugs imo should be a seldom used seasoning in life and not the main course everyday. That makes for a boring palate.

'Murica. OP hope you're hanging in there! Life can be and ultimately is a bitch. The trick is just to hang on, find something worth living for and thriving for, and don't be afraid of dying.
