Alot of aborts on bulk neglect??
    #1880984 - 09/04/03 11:43 AM (20 years, 6 months ago)

Well, my FOAF has done the bulk neglect tek right down to the cardboard box, lined with plastic, poo/straw mixture and cased with 50/50 verm/peat...now, most of the mushrooms seem to grow about 4 inches high then abort, but then he has had like a few 60 gram monster shrooms grow out of it, he is fanning about 2 times a day, temp is around 26-27 celcius, humidity is not a problem...any ideas? I am unsure of the strain of the mushrooms as my foaf has a syringe just given to him as the person he recieved them from, ordered spores, then did not use them and forgot which ones he had ordered. If anyone can help that would be great.

aborts are caused by:

High humidity
Direct Moisture Contact
High CO2 Levels
Contams

Try fanning them 3-4 times a day..... And as Soochi mentioned, humidity can be too high or water droplets may be dropping on the pins if you hand mist them.... Also dropping the temp. to 23-24C may help...

yeah....there are no moisture droplets dropping on them or anything like that, i would imagine its probably just a co2 thing, and i will have to fan more...hopefully it works, i will keep updating.

High CO2 Levels

IMO this is the biggest contributor to abhorts.

Anyone else noticed how some strains are a lot more tolerant to CO2 levels than others? e.g. Mexican Cubensis are hardy little buggers, but Brazilians are fussy bastards.

:crazy2:
