miw4life said: okay just so you all know. I already used the search engine and got most of the information I needed. but I was wondering if I should put a few holes down right above the perlite and where the cake starts so I can have a little CO2 come out? and other suggestions?
okay i just wanted you to understand the difficulties.
1.yes i would poke holes into it but do it with caution start out with 2 and if humidity is to high poke more or else u might end up with rotted cap.
2. i do have a few suggestions.
- make sure you have the temps right. if your putting them all over the house then you make wanna get a thermometer out.
- i would buy leds and put them inside the cap to maintain good lighting. you may want to do some research on this.
- if your heart isnt set on the bottles maybe you might like to try a grow bag? they are cheap and work well.
- once every four days i would completely remove half of the bottle so all co2 is released at once.
Goodluck.

Don't forget about my idea of the bed placed diagonally in the corner of the room. It makes a nice little hole behind the head board for a sgfc or a monotub

I just saw this one grow. this guy put brf cakes crushed up in the bottom of the 2 liter bottle and got a very high yield. what would I mix with the substrate when I crushed it up?

thats a bad idea. because then you cant put perlite. and also less surface area for mushys to grow. you need perlite in a 2 liter for humidity.

You are talking about spawning your cakes to a bulk substrate. You would have to pasteurize coir and verm. Or you could use poo

Coco coir. It is shredded coconut husk. It's used for terrarium bedding for reptiles. You can buy compressed bricks of it at pet stores

i think maybe what he was referring to was someone who just crushed a cake up put it into a two liter then cased it with verm.. coir is for bulk grows. its to stretch the cakes because no one wants to make 30 cakes just for one tub. can you post a link of the grow you mentioned. sorry gotta catch a flight il check back on this post in a few hours.

Whats your opinion of high yeild? If you are going to argue and debate everything everyone is saying then dont ask for recommendations. If you are going to do it like"that" guy then do it like that guy. Follow the link to my grow I have a link to every tek I am using. Im using a small trash can. But I also don't have 15 jars ill be using about 3.5 qts spawn amd 3.5 qts coir.

Yeah but you'll have to hydrate then pasteurize the coir. That is why I provided those links.
Get you a brick of eco earth coir from petco and put it and 2 qts of verm in a bucket with 5 qts of warm tap water. Let it hydrate and mix it up. (just follow the tek in the link) Using these amounts it will be properly hydrated.
Then you'll need to pasteurize. The link you provided said he used 1 qt of substrate with 2 cakes in his 2 liter. So if you want to do 2 of these you'll need to fill 2 qt jars with the coir/verm mixture and pasteurize just like it says in the second link I provided. If I were you I'd go ahead and do 5 or 6. It looks pretty cool.
You can just dump whatever amount of the coir you don't use. Use it in your garden or around outdoor plants It is cheap. I think it is about $3 a brick

Oh and when you do break up your cakes and mix it up with the coir you'll have to tape the holes shut on the bottle and put the top on. You let it colonize the coir before you uncover the holes and introduce it to fruiting conditions. It will probably only take it 5 to 10 days to colonize the coir. Myc rips through it pretty damn fast

I think I might just get really small totes like ones that could fit in a dresser drawer and put the cakes in that. like a mini SGCF? how would that go?

psillyshroomer said: Bummer man. I think I would rather do a few real small sgfc out of the small bins than I would a 2 liter bottle. You know the little bins that aren't much bigger than a shoe box. That would probably work better than a 2 liter but idk. I don't have experience fruiting in 2 liters or small bins
Just a thought

Ok so im reading and laughing and reading... But I gotta stop you
Why can't your girlfriend find out? Or is it her room mate that doesn't want to see them?
And 15 1 liter bottles.... Its a stretch but you could always crumble all the cakes together in one tub and then set it behind the dumpster of the apartment to fruit.
All Joking aside, Psillyshroomer has it right, 15 bottles is 15 chances for cakes covered in perlite. How many times have you knocked over a bottle of anything?
Plus I do believe that cakes fruiting together help to maintain an atmosphere that is good for cakes. Cakes fruiting alone or to far apart can tend to dry out quicker. I may be totally off on that one.
