Samurai Drifter said: Ideologically, Confucianism and Taoism don't have much in common. They're often combined, but they touch on very different subjects and areas of life. Confucius was almost completely concerned with how to rule ethically and be a good member of society, whereas Taoism is about achieving harmony with nature and the Universe. Many Taoist writers (Zhuangzi, for example) are actually quite critical of government and rulers in general.
i like the parts of the tao te ching that make light of the idiocy of the writer i seem drawn to most teachings which are self-deprecating
if i was trying to rule a country though I could hardly afford to waste time with such a view as others would already be doing that work for me
the differences may be more to do with speaking to circumstance than anything else. but i really dont know enough about either one to say much. i just wanted to express my personal dilemma in story form. i don't fit in with the main flow of society but neither do i want to destroy it and rebuild it in my image. i'll of course say my piece here and there but it's not my goal to change the way things work. it's my way of not repressing the movements while keeping a keen eye on which way the wind blows. are the way things are good? maybe, maybe not. I'm still watching. and i'm not convinced i'll ever get it pinned down in any way.

Good, destroy it and rebuild it in my image then.

I don't completely agree with this.

You're one of these^
Who happen to build each other these

By using these

Because you have evolved these

Even if you're not endowed with current-spec intelligence and become dependent on the state, there are always those

Willing to help you with one of these

Well that sort of misses the point.
What is anything but a neurological interpretation of a field of information "out there"?
It's really what your brain can do that counts. Leary said it was designed to design realities. I think this is true.

Do you at all believe in immaterial entities that have some or direct control over emotions and mental content?
In my experience its always a compromise between me and them, who I AM.

There is more going on inside the manifestation of a human body, than you would imagine. The brain is a bundle of neurons that fire off, therefore we have hundreds of neurons firing off but nothing to interpret what is going on.
Computers have bios and an operating system that decipher the messages, and send them where it is needed. what does this for the human body? That which deciphers the messages is where consciousness is found.
Furthermore, unity is also that which tells about consciousness, for that which gives our body its unity, is the same thing that gives us our consciousness. With hundreds neurons firing at the same time, each trying to convey different messages to different parts of the brain and body, there is a sense of unity. In that among all those diverse firings there is a unity which binds our body, brain, and electrical impulses together. Similar to how an operating system unites the diverse components of a computer to create a functional machine, thus there is something in us that combines all of our diverse components and makes us functional human beings.
The brain is what you see on the surface. The hard part is trying to figure out what's really going on.
