The last unique thought you had.
    #18813105 - 09/07/13 09:34 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

This threads gonna be a mess before the end of the night / day. What was the last thought you had that is so G, it requires mentioning in the Shroomery? Anything: Philosophical, spiritual, drunk, high, tripping, accidentally homo, life changing, lets hear it. Something that made you acknowledge yourself more so than normal. Maybe give yourself a reassuring nod or high five (symptoms may vary).

Go!

Our bodies are a reflection of our state of thought
Our soul is the most holy gift we have and our bodies we should appreciate

We should be grateful everyday, for all the small things in life that bring happiness
and for ourselves and for others

And:
Houseplants, pets being happy, guitar, nature  everyday , there are no bad days :-)
Can't remember the last time I've had one...

You never have to resign yourself to anything in life, but you should also never sell yourself short.

(in reference to knowledge not of the sort like: 'I know how to play guitar' or something like that, but rather 'I know it is raining' type of knowledge)

-I can only know what is true.
-What is true is always deemed true from the eyes of ultimate reality

(ex: If I say 'I know my friend is alive, I just spoke to him' when in reality my friend was killed in a car crash right after I spoke to him and before I made that statement....than via the eyes of ultimate-reality, I do  not know a thing.)...but what i claimed to know could have been true

-Something (such as an occurring situation--'it is raining') can only be said to be true if there exists a time in which it could be said to be false (Me stating: it is raining...when in reality it is not) (and so here my claim would be false/wrong.)
-If something does not even inherently possess the ability to potentially be able to be correctly viewed asbeing other then what it is, then I cannot say of it that it is true....for it can never not be true

-This means that I can only know (when talking about the type of knowledge I specified) things that I can doubt. For if something can legitimately be doubted (as being true) then it must be viewed upon as having the capacity to be--at some point in time--not true.
-It does not make sense--linguistically--to express doubt towards something, if it is understood that it can never be other then what it is.

-I can only know what is true.
-Anything that is able to be legitimately viewed upon (by oneself) with doubt (as to whether it is true or not) I can know.
-I can only know what I can doubt.
-I can only doubt that which--from the eyes of ultimate-reality has the possibility of being correctly deemed either true or false.

On skepticism:
-Assume this reality as we perceive it is indeed only a simulation (or the works of an evil demon)
-Then there must be some 'ultimate-reality'
-Then via the eyes and judgement of ultimate-reality, this here simulated reality does not have the ability to be deemed 'true' reality...for it is only the simulated reality-it is always false. But if it is 'always false' and without the capacity of ever being true, then I cannot even say of it that it is 'false' in the first place.
-Conditions are not met for me to linguistically apply the word 'true' or 'false' to it, since no  point in time even potentially could exist in which I can apply the word 'true' to it.

-If this is a simulated reality, then via the eyes of ultimate-reality, it can never be viewed as being other then what it is.
-So it is not doubtable
-I cannot know it.

-All I can say of it, is that it is what it is. But I cannot say of it, that 'what it is...is true' or 'what it is...is false'.
If we assume it is a simulated reality, then that is all we can say of it. Not that it is 'really' real/not real (meaning: really 'true'/'false'

Same argument can be done when initially assuming that this here reality is ultimate reality. (just in the opposite sense).

Skepticism is not irrefutable-- this reality may be sub-par to the 'ultimate-reality' but I cannot then say of it that it is 'false'.

Am I crazy? srs question

Go!

I've been once again pondering my "block theory" physical-philosophical model of reality that posits everything as static, with time being the substrate by which we perceive change and subjective consciousness being akin to a chemical reaction happening in the chunk/block/omnistuff. Very in-line with the space-time 4D reality, except saying that time is not special at all except that we experience it. Our conciousness is a 2D plane on a 3D block of every frame of super mario world stacked one against another, rendering the entire 2D life in 3 dimensions. Our 3D entire lives can be rendered in 4 dimensions (although we need redundant sets of dimensions to perceive these dimensions if we want to observe rather than experience :sigh:)

I'm worried now about the implications about free will and determinism.

I was thinking about this while washing grease out of patty caddies at my McDonalds job. :vibin:

well first i was thinking of writing something deep and insightful in this thread, but it seems that others have beaten me to it. i was also thinking writing something about volcano lungs or something like that, but i couldn't think of a clever enough mishmash of words

i'll probably just end up writing some babble about myself that no one will care about or pay any attention to. then the next person will probably do the same

this is a fun thread!

I'm talking purely spacial, silly person! As in, for a 2 dimensional spacial system draped over a linear time dimension, simply treat it as a single 3 dimensional spacial system.

Extrapolate to 4 spacial dimensions to accommodate a 3D spacial world, such as our own, and its 4th, non-corporeal dimension, time.

I'm using a very dry, clinical notion of "dimension", just so we're clear.

Theres no such thing.  The universe is forever changing, always existed and always will, because it contains all of time, which goes round and round. We are in eternal flux between existing in every possible way and nonexistence, so the notion that there is original thought is vain. The entire universe is nothing but copypasta. Divine copypasta, mind you.

I think this may be a comfortable oversimplification.

Do you subscribe to the idea that a room of monkeys and typewriters will eventually land shakespear?

That's not a rhetoric statement... I'm curious, as it's got a crucial bearing on my understanding of what your opinion is.

The premise of the monkey thought experiment is this:

"If you have a group of monkeys in a room, and they blindly type on typewriters for all eternity will they eventually produce a novel of Shakespeare?"

Yes, absolutely and unavoidably so. In fact every single monkey will write at every single book in the library of congress in chronological order, backwards, forwards, without a singe error, and this over and over in a sea of gibberish, forever.

That isnt just an opinion, its math, its what you get when you let a finite number of options manifest in random order for all eternity.

And I boldened and reddened that because its a very profound thing, its the way the entire universe works. The big bang wasnt a onetime thing, theres nothing preventing it from being a statistical occurrance in eternity.

If you look at the ways you can fold 11 dimansional space, its 10500 ways. A 1 with 500 zeroes.  And just ONE of those ways is ours. That isnt just luck, and it probably isnt God's Choice either. Its a lottery with 10500 tickets being drawn an infinite number of times. All those other potential universes are out there, coming and going for all eternity.

Everything that is possible to occur, no matter how utterly unlikely, will occur an infinite number of times in an eternity in every possible way, over and over.

If you take the eternally typing monkeys as the condition of the experiment, the works of shakespeare coming out is not an opinion but a mathematical certainty.

Personally I dont believe in "random", I believe that out of the sea of theoretic possibilities only a trickle of things will end up actually happening, becvause of the underlying structure of the universe.  But this even smaller finite number of things shall recur in every possible way, forever, that I believe in.

I personally agree with your ideas and have come to similar conclusions but I think it's worth noting that there's absolutely no evidence of these other dimensions and alternate universes existing, at all, aside from in the math and philosophy and there's no foreseeable way to prove them empirically (DMT doesn't count ) . After all, the chance that this is the only universe out there is included in those probability curve although the chance is quite small compared to what is probably there.

Just pointing out that ATM, science makes no concrete claims regarding the origin or the finality of the universe, or of any other universes etc - but they recognize the potentialities.

You are right about that, but just within the known universe its quite possible to reach manifestations that are so utterly improbable that you either have to conclude theres a highly defined structure underlying the unverse or we're smack in the middle of eternity.

DMT proves a lot though

Yeah there's some weird shit out there, fair point  Saw that movie with a straight edge girl when it first came out and spent the rest of the day trying to explain Tibetan Buddhism and Bardo's and psychedelics and DMT and spirituality and all sorts of shit to her. Pretty sure she just thought I was a weirdo after that  (things continued to go well though)

Here's a few rhymes for a set of 12 rap songs I am working on, that haven't or didn't make it:

a violent right
between those
who fight
black and white
dusk and dawn
the musky scent
is long gone
A huskies sense
is no macth
Knocking em down
like they're cabbage patch
for the lasers
sprayin from my fingertips
I wing it
grab a bad guy I fling him by the hips

yeah we needa do it again

sling the web
No dull moment with the super friends
shits rehased but everlasting fast
Over and over again like a wind up toy
I'll find you boy guy with the gun
not the bankers rather raise hell
for the bangers time wasters

I needa remind you
I can't find the time
with kung fu lasers from eyes
and praising the guys of altitude

Ticky ticky tock and the clock is gonna go

gonna do this the music in monotone
exactly like chrome
I relax when time flows and you flow
Rewind vines so downwards they grow

i astral projected to i dont wanna miss a thing on mxe and then some girl came and kissed me in my projection but she faded away after the song ended. i was thinking whether i really astral projected and met some girl in the projection together or was it just a delusional dream-like mindstate.

I've also been convinced recently that we never percieve our own death. The multiple universe theory coupled with a network conscious mind, we will forever witness every possibility of every dimension for an eternity. You're relatives might be dead, but really they're just experiencing a different reality than you. It might be the exact same life but at the end they turn right instead, time is just our only link to connect these constantly changing dimensions, into one fluid performance vs. Being a bunch of different pictures.

It's bruteforce

monkeys are good at bruteforce :-)

so I agree, they will write anything, given enough time... eternity

they might write shakespear in a few hours, or 100 years
because the end result is finite, it can be bruteforced given enough time

but lets say there are 256 chars per letter combination(- a few, numbers/specialchars i.e.), it would take forever to bruteforce..
would take -very- long to just bruteforce 1 sentence :-)

takes a week to bruteforce 16 digits wpa keys sometimes i.e. (assuming it is in the dict)

if we got a dictionary to compare to it is fast, else it takes 10-100x longer

if we let the monkeys type for eternity they will have produced the works, somewhere in time, they just don't know when to stop

that's the problem with monkeys typing/coding

I don't think anything in this thread has been unique yet.

i don't know if this is unique but i've never heard it before:

humans did jack shit nothing for like 100k a million years before civilization began.  civilization probably began in earnest after written record appeared.

we need to make devices for whales to record and transmit their spoken language.  If whales are intelligent they're probably being held back because they don't have a copyable and transmitable record of all their stupid ass whale thoughts.

if monkies can use computers to tell us they're sad or afraid i'm sure a whale could use a computer to share whale knowledge with other whales.

considering how long it took stupid humans to do something interesting, i feel like we shouldn't think so lowly of whales.

sorry to envix is who has probably heard this a million times from me already.

That's good, I've been there, realizing you are not unique is a good start on the path :-)

Most 'unique' thoughts I've thought have been thought by Alan Watts, Eckhart tolle, John Lennon, Einstein, Albert Hofmann, Terence Mckenna, Maharishi, Deepak Chopra, Huxley, (Carl Jung), and many others (buddhism/buddha i.e.)

Especially buddhists / hippies, it seems like my thoughts are their thoughts, and their thoughts are mine , but so it generally feels with all the people mentioned above

And almost every person I've met who is into psychedelics (share something with all of them, but not always the same thoughts... often creativity/hobbies i.e.) ;-)

peace

life, values, and your identity are COMPLETELY relative.

That is...YOU create your own identity, your own life, your own mind-state. However, people see you differently, so don't let silly judgments get the best of you.

Each person creates their own perception of his/herself and how s/he interact in society(which is also a construct of humanity).

No cereal tastes good with skim milk, so probably not many other people   That is a good combo in 2% though.  And frosted flakes is the perfect cereal to mix with other cereals, it just fits so perfectly.  Flakes and honey bunches of oats combo rocks.

And even my thought of "should I go for a run or a bike ride toady" seems to be unique to me.  Not the actual question itself, but when I ask that question my mind runs through what I have done in the past (bike or ran lately) and what else needs to be done in my 'life' today to see whether running or biking would suit my needs better.  As simple of a question it started out to be, in the end there is a lot more to it than just "should I run or bike".

I was going to type -

The fuck?  Do you visually inspect your asshole after shitting to make sure you got it all?

Then I realized some people may inspect the TP to see if there is much shit on there, so that comment would have been silly.

But I personally wipe twice, and never check the last piece of TP.  So I would say that I go off of instinct more or less, which I would guess is what the blind do.

Oh, and is the opposite of 1, negative 1?

Here's a two-fer
1. The solar system is but an atom in the construct of the universe. What is the universe an atom in the construct of?
2. The third dimension is but a small step up the ladder of the cosmos.

No matter how elaborate a philosophical scheme you work out, in the end, it's gonna be incomplete.

Talking about religion, atheism, precepts of how the world works, etc. we won't fully understand it until we experience death.

Those final moments holds the wisdom of a LIFE experience....I wonder what people think I their last moments. How do they view life? Will they be happy? Terrified?

What about the experience? Is it spiritual like? I watched enter the void...I wonder if death is like a trip like the movie proposed? Anything is possible during death, since we don't know much about it.

The multiverse!

Here's the last one that really creeped the shit out of me. Conveying it in words is a little difficult so bear with me... So i've been struggling with the idea of consciousness for a while. Studying biology and chemistry and failing to see where the transfer of energy across molecules could explain our awareness the way it explains everything else in biology. Action and reaction yes... But awareness? Free will? It seems to defy nature that one could have reign over a physical body which merely interacts statistically. Then a thought occurred to me... Thoughts can be physically measured... Being that they are measured by electrical impulses, they must be slight changes in the physical conformation of the brain. Okay, but how do we control thoughts? We are after all a configuration of electromagnetic forces that interact according to physical relationships. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense that we can willfully alter the configuration from an awareness that doesn't even have any perceivable origin. It makes more sense that our thoughts are the evolutionary adaptation to outside stimuli. This follows much more closely to biological principle. So say you see hear something in the bushes at night. The lack of sensory input to your eyes + soundwaves to your ear drums instigate physical reactions which end up in your response centers as fear because those pathways had evolved to do so over the ages.

So it's still action and reaction. And same would go for every day activities like holding conversations. Environmental setting would provoke physical reactions which would prompt verbal dialogue. Verbal dialogue from one person would instigate physical responses in the other persons brain caused by chemical reactions originating at the sites of sensory input which would instigate a verbal/physical response and so on. So all in all my particles are communicating with your particles the same way they do in the body and in nature, but at the same time creating the illusion that we are sitting here engaging in an activity out of our own free will. In reality we're just witnessing a physical exchange of information

My friend had shown me a study about a year ago where they determined that the brain makes decisions a fraction of a second before you perceive whats happening. The whole thing somewhat suggested the lack of free will. Another one that contributed was a video on slime mold. A bunch of single celled amoebas that can come together and perform a variety of tasks as a multicellular organism when prompted to by danger. Well, single celled organisms don't have neural structures and therefor don't have consciousness the way we perceive it. It's quite a bit easier to perceive them as a little web of interlocked chemical reactions than it is us. Yet something about those interactions allows them to maneuver their environment as a single unit without the slightest bit of conscious awareness. Soley based on chemical response to it's environment.

Hope that makes sense. I'm not saying I believe it for now. It was just a thought, but I thought it was pretty interesting and the more I think about it the more plausible it seems. That our thoughts and awareness are simply action and reaction like the rest of nature

I wonder if universes orbit a bigger mass  can you weigh the universe? The black spots around the corners of our current universe sparks controversy on the legitimacy of a single universe...kinda like thinking the earth was the CENTER OF EVERYTHING...maybe our universe is part of something..........bigger :chilldog:

I believe in the possibility of a multiverse. How can we test this theory to become law? It is up to future generations to decide.
