Possible find in upstate NY
    #18811799 - 09/07/13 02:29 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Looking through a field guide and doing a spore print on these mushrooms I found growing on mulch in the neighborhood, figured I'd put em up in the meantime. Got an orangey possible spore residue on my hand. Here's pics.

Could be Protostropharia semiglobata, which is a species that is found on dung.  Likely the mulch included manure.

Ok, so  it's a pretty dark chocolate, maybe black sort of spore print and no noticeable bruising. The stipes I collected are kinda tough and fibrous. :amanita2:  :amanita2:  TY Alan!

Little Edit.. Just to confirm Alan's ID I looked again at the spot they were growing, because I felt maybe the knob on the cap was maybe hinting at a different species(I don't even know).. but the young ones I found had a grayish light colored gill as protostropharia semiglobata are supposed to have.
