How does this spot look for lib hunting?
    #18812004 - 09/07/13 03:38 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

This is a very large field near my house that to me, looks like it could house some liberty caps. What do you all think?? Does this place look like liberty caps could grow here?

I checked it out yesterday a little bit but didn't find any, which I'm attributing to maybe being too early in the season (or possibly bad location) and not enough rain? Anyway, any suggestions would be awesome

Good indicators for libs, but do they have any food?

Is it at a high altitude? would make it cooler and better for libs.

Any animals graze it at all? Dung is a good sign of fertility.

Any water sources nearby?  It looks kinda yellow and dry and trees will drain soil a bit.  Might need to time it for rains and hope.

Looks like it could yield libs.  Aim for greener, lush areas and places where it may be damper.

Yeah i can't believe I forgot to mention where I am located!! My baaaad. I am in Washington state. And I don't believe any animals really graze around it. It's just a big open field across from a snooty neighborhood. Must it be a field where animals graze or can they grow in without them?

Washington state is a big state...

I think that is close enough to the coast, but if you do not find them head closer and check again.  Also might be a bit early.

There is a mushroomobserver record of P. semilanceata from Nisqually, which is in Thurston County.  Also one from Portland, about the same distance from the coast.  Nothing recorded further inland.

Yeah Nisqually is extremely close to my location. About a 15 minute drive. I know people who have picked them around here too so I'm pretty positive they grow around my location. Just gotta find the right spot! And yeah, it probably is a bit early. Just over anxious haha.
