So I'm trying to find some mushrooms for the first time , I'm in Tampa,Florida and there is a cow ranch and horse ranch very near by. I'm thinking about going out tonight to try and find some, which would be better ? its been raining a lot lately. Also, if I find some and if I bag up the shit I found it in then put it in my backyard, will more shrooms grow ?

3. Do not ask what mushrooms can be found growing in your state or immediate area. That information can be found here: http://www.shroomery.org/8461/Which-mushrooms-grow-wild-in-my-area Also read An overview on how to find Psilocybin Mushrooms.
4. Do not ask about current finds in your area. These posts have been flooding the forum for years. If you're curious about if mushrooms are growing in your area, get out there and look! Mushrooms don't read the books. Sometimes they fruit outside of season. There is no set date for any season, only vast generalizations. Your best bet is that if it's close to the season for the mushroom you are looking for and its been raining, you just might find some.
5. Do not make threads or posts discussing or reporting the weather. This includes complaining about the weather, asking if the current weather is "good for shrooms", or how long to wait after rain fall to go hunting. As a general rule of thumb, if it has rained within the last 1-10 days, and the temperatures are correct for the type of mushroom you're looking for, and the time of year is correct then it is very likely that the mushroom you are looking for is growing.
6. No asking when or where mushrooms, or a specific mushroom species will grow. This includes, asking what habitat a mushroom[s] can be found- or their preferred fruiting conditions. This can be very simply answered by using the "search posts" feature: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/search.php

Cattle would be best if you're looking for actives.
As for your second question, it works good sometimes but you have to make sure not to mess with the patty too much, just get it home in one piece, place in a shady area and water it a few times.
You could also take it a step further by getting a bag of Black Kow manure and emptying it into a pile. Then put your patties into it and water real well.

Be careful of wandering someone elses land at night though, looks very suspicious. I wouldn't do it here and the farmers aren't even armed. Consider the farmers view of seeing someone wandering about in the dark with a torch out in his cow/horse pasture.
If it's your first hunt maybe get a camera and book so that if you are approached you can try explain that your into photograpy and tell him how lovely his land is blah blah.
Aside from the risks, it's also a lot easier to identify stuff in daylight. Would be dissapointing to ninja about in a field gathering a bag full of dung and non-active species by accident.
