Why would anyone make trays and case grains instead of making a mono?

Im considering making a PMP for the simple fact that I can have trays consolidate in a different area while a tray is fruiting in my PMP.  Plus it will be a lot easier for me to just pull a tray out of my tubs to swap out grows. And a lot cleaner as well.

Although I might run a pmp and mono at the same time.  but hats why I'm considering trays over a bulk.  Also doing trays because im going to be attempting some pan grows and they don't need to have deep substrate like you would with cubes.

I like to colonize trays with cased grain because I can usually get mushrooms a week or so earlier than using a mono.  I do both though.  You get to the same place either way.  It is hard to beat how easy mixing up a mono is compared to casing though.  Like Tastethesound has said, cleanup is also pretty darn easy with casings, just remove the pan, add moisture to your perlite, and you are ready for the next cycle.

You're guess is as good as mine man. I have never been able to understand why someone would case they're colonized grains instead of spawning them to bulk. Seems like a waste of good grain spawn considering how much better grain performs when spawned to bulk.

Some people are just lazy and look for the easiest quickest way out. I assume that is the biggest reason

Im not casing colonized grain,  I will be using a 13x9x2 aluminum baking pan. Which requires like 3 quartz of spawn and 4 quarts of HPoo for a lil over 1:1 ratio.  I'm not even casing it, like i said its easier to move and deal with.

Also when dealing with multiple grows of different species depending on how big your tub, and especially a martha style or whatever type of green house.  You can start fruiting different trays while others are colonizing or take out trays that are spent etc.  with out having to tear down your whole set up for cleaning.

For me its about growing smarter not harder.  It may seem like more work but for me at least it seems easier.
