Bolete and not active

Not all mushrooms that bruise blue are active

I'm pretty sure your right it's Boletus but at the same time it's much thinner... or are you guys going off of the gills?

Some blue staining boletes are poisonous so don't eat these mushrooms without a proper ID. I guess hopefully you haven't picked them even since they're pins. Just so you know for the future, any mushrooms with drastically different gills will almost certainly not be in the same genus.

Your mushroom is definitely from the family Boletaceae and is probably from the genus Boletus. Yes we are going off the gills, the gills(and gill/spore color) are at least as if not more important than other macroscopic characteristics in determining the family and genus of a mushroom.

K that sounds good. The only reason I asked in the first place was because of the blueing, like when I saw that in front of my eyes I got so exited

Understandable. The first bluing mushroom I ever found was a Boletus (I don't remember the species). I already knew that many Boletes bruised blue and that they weren't active but it was still disappointing. What general part of the world do you live in?

I got so excited upon seeing my first bluing reaction. It still amazes me to see on any mushroom. It's crazy how when we want something so bad, our minds sometimes trick us into thinking something is something else.

Ya I was coming up on a tab at the time, I'm just glad I didn't decide to "field test"
