Washing machines increase our education 2

As we speak right now, their are 5 billion people that don't have access to washing machines. These people, mostly the women need to spend several hours per week hand washing their family's clothes. It's a long, hard and inefficient process. Billion of people need to walk long distances to have access to the water needed, they then need to light a fire to heat that water while they wash their clothes.
Us on the other hand simply load up the machine and let electricity do the work. The richest billion people in the world uses up more than half the entire planets energy use using all kinds of machines. The result of this is that it allowed us to have more time to become industrialized
What the washing machines have done to society is that it freed up time for women to go to the library and read books, learn other languages, teach their children and give them hope for a better, more educated future.
Next time you do a load of laundry, don't take it for granted. 5 billion people on earth would do anything to have one. Consider yourselves lucky to have the time to educate yourselves because of it.

It is actually a pretty good point. Think how much more time nudism would save us though.

I don't own a washing machine, and I have plenty of time to educate myself
I do see your point though

Yea I suppose it could be applied to any device that does chores that would otherwise take up all our spare time.
Another question, how many people actually use this extra time to be productive? Most of us load up our washing machines and go do meaningless stuff like play X box or chat on the Shroomery

It's crazy to think that even those old timey wringer style washing machines would have been seen as a huge time saver.

Whenever I've washed laundry by hand the whole process took maybe 15min for a load.
Wash/Scrub, hang to dry. Done.

You need to factor in walking a couple miles each way to a well to get the water to wash your clothes!

Make a wheel barrel and bring all your water in at once, drinking water, bathing water, and washing water. The wheels been around over 5000 years, a gallon of water weighs 8lbs. You need a gallon a day for drinking, so if you carry your own body weight in water that should easily get you through a week. Make the wife carry another wheel barrel.
Now someone's going to start talking about warlords or some shit, and after that it'll be some disease I'm born with which keeps me from walking.

You can make a dolly out of a few pieces of wood, a wheel barrel off a little more wood. A piece of rock for carving. That's stone age technology, been around since before anyone could write about its invention
Are you going to bitch about people going cold at night? Light a fucking fire caveman
