Airtight Lid Monotub

Is it a must to have an air tight lid when your monotubs are colonizing, I bought some totes a while back and they are the ones where you seal the lid via latches.

Well since it is that type of tote there are 2 tiny holes on both sides of the tub that allow air in..

Is this fine?? Or is this going to get me a contam ?

p.s. couldn't sleep.

That does not make it air tight.

There has to be some sort of gasket or seal around the lid to make it air tight.

And no, having it air tight is not needed or recommended in any way, as it still needs some GE.

It's fine.

If your spawn is clean, and the substrate material has been pasteurized, there should be no worry of contams.

You have to remember you will be spawning the tub in open air, so technically there will already be millions of contams mixed into the substrate.

Worrying about contams coming in those 2 tiny holes seems pretty silly.
