the answer is not to trust anyone who brags about being old and gaining.

Do older people really know the anser, or are you old shills all full of shit just like I am guessing?

You are assuming that older people who brag are untrustworthy? What a conjecture!

Do people get wiser as they get older? It seems that there are too many variables here to really say. You may be able to establish some kind of correlation there, but I think it would be a weak one at best. One person may get wiser and one may become a bumbling fool!

YOU, are not addressing the correct person. Get it together.

Socrates is known for quoting the Delphic Oracle: "Know Thyself," which I've adopted as my signature. At the same time, Socrates admitted that he knew nothing. This is a paradox. Insofar as I continue to seek understanding, the Wisdom that emerges from the process is misunderstood by Westerners (including yourself apparently), as being nothing. It is rather, 'no thing,' no objectified content, which would amount to an epistemological knowledge. However, gnosis is a different kind of knowing in which knower-knowledge-known are unified. Thus, the Buddhists, on the contrary, defines Wisdom AS Emptiness, Void, Sunyata, Clear Light. This Wisdom consists of the immediate intuition of the Unmanifest from which all form manifests. Eckhart Tolle calls it Being. To the extent that awareness of Being exists, Wisdom exists. It is not that 'I' possess Wisdom, it is a matter of to what extent my being manifests Being/Wisdom. The Buddhists say that Compassionate Action is the measure of that Wisdom. It is the intersection of Wisdom and Compassion, the vertical transpersonal dimension of Wisdom, which is Emptiness, Silence, and the horizontal personal dimension of Compassion towards sentient beings in the world.

There are relative truths and there is Ultimate Truth which equates with Ultimate Reality. Ultimate Reality cannot be communicated horizontally, with words, but it can be implied by the wise [wo]man's way of being-in-the-world. Awareness of Ultimate Reality makes saints out of us.

You replied to me, but I was not the one whose quote you included. I responded to it, but I did not write it. I think you clicked on the wrong reply button is all.

I am a shameless bragger, and people largely hate the hell out of it. I am old, I would say wiser but time is short so let's be real.  I am not to be trusted.

This is all I have really learned.  Love is all you need.  Ignore that fact at your own peril.

What about water bro? Can love hydrate my body and keep me from shriveling into a prune? I didn't think so.

Just take a pebble.  Suck on it, you will feel hydrated even if you aren't.  Old dude trick.

Although I have only been around here for short while, I have gained a passion for mycology that has had no equal in my life. I have gained so much knowledge through this site that it's ridiculous. Hell, I am rarely on any other site.

To Mark, congrats on everything. My cup is a old tankard given to me by the owner of a "pirate" bar in St. Augustine, FL. And it has been in my hand whilst naked in public many times.

older people like me is full of mental issues like deep depression. Sometimes I think about blowing my brainz out.

Then I feel okay a little later.

the cycle repeats.

Best get some therapy for sexual abuse, and in the mean time, don't become a parent until you've resolved your rage.

You really need to change your opinion of what being an "Alpha Male" means man. Alphas lead, educate, care for, protect, and provide for those in their pack. Your version of an Alpha would be killed by the pack. Have you not seen the "The Lion King"?
