I've wondered about spawning some substrate that could be used in a plant terrarium such as this for quite some time.

Any species, really.. just for the sake of creating a thriving micro-botanical dome type of thing.
I think these plant terrariums are really beautiful but feel like they could be so much more with little fungi popping up throughout them.
Would it be possible to spawn some small amount of grain to some kind of nutritious mix of substrate that could also benefit the plants while the mushrooms arent fruiting? It seems that it would have to be some kind of tropical species that favors similar colonizing to fruiting parameters.
Anyone ever tried, or have anything insightful to add to my fantasy??

Is that terrarium yours? It's beautiful!
I also wondered about trying to grow in a planted terrarium; I had a few very nice planted ones, which housed dart frogs.

It can definitely work and a lush planted terrarium with sprouting cubes would be awesome!
- In tropical terrarium, the RH is always 95% - coco coir is a common substrate in terrariums - 6500K CFL lighting are common for planted terrariums - temp is ideal for fruiting cubes (though I had temp in the 80's for the frogs)
Definitely keep a construction/grow log if you end up doing this!
