it appears to be from the Amanita genus. A better specimen and description would bring more precise results. Amanitas contain some of the most deadly toxins known in the mushroom kingdom.

I wouldn't avoid them per-say. There are some good edibles in the Amanita genus and also some contain chemicals that can elicit states of euphoria. I suggest reading up on them and investing in a good mushroom hunting guide. The above species may be Amanita Pantherina Var. but is too dried out to be properly IDed for consumption.
