how long can i keep colonized rye bags?
    #18804431 - 09/05/13 06:15 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

hello,

say i want to start a grow one tub at a time, but i want to inject the spore solution now so i don't have to wait for it to colonize later. after colonization, will it have any negative effects if i wait maybe 3 weeks and then break it up in a monotub?

Best to use it as soon as possible but if you're not going to use it right away then stick it in the fridge to slow the growth down.

I've had plenty of spawn bags that I forgot about or put aside start pinning and some even went through a "first flush" (it was tiny, compared to when I spawned it to a tub). 3 weeks should be fine, as long as your culture isn't already too old.
