I know they do, as I have posted several times already.
They are growing towards the light because they are deriving energy from it.
But in the absence of light, they will grow up....get it?
This does not mean the light tells them which way to grow, gravity does that, but they will grow towards an energy source sometimes.

Again... no. I've done a few dark grows and they grow all directions, down, up, sideways, horizontal curley, vertical curley, etc. Frankly it would be really cool if they weren't so damn spindly with micro-caps. (While I'm still not convinced yet that they derive energy from the light, they certainly derive enthusiasm, both the weight and substrate shrinkage were minimal compared to heavy light of any kind).

We can agree to disagree....no biggy...
But if they are not deriving energy from the light, why would they grow towards it?

They do derive energy from light. But light does not tell them where to grow alone. Pin direction is due to a number of factors, FAE or airflow is the most important factor, and also gravity. But I have seen pins grow upside down and sideways when light is ONLY coming from the top.

I have a few hypothesis on that, my light setup is more blue & UV than most. It's possible this is acting as a super bright sun and thus 'up' indicator. It's also possible they are trying to orient their caps as umbrellas to protect their stalks from UV exposure. I have noticed another big difference is that dark grown all had pale white and easily bruised stalks, compared to the more slightly yellowed and stronger light grown. For the most part they often try to grown 'away' from the substrate. Now if away is up, that's a good direction but I'm pretty certain gravity doesn't have anything to do with it. (I should say, I think it would be rather awesome if they did derive energy from light and think it's possible, just that the evidence isn't there yet).

Grow the same isolate in the presence of 12/12 light, then some in darkness.
The ones that were given light will be healthier and more plentiful.
That alone should show you the energy that is derived.
That alone should be enough evidence.
Light gives energy to just about all living things...

That's not how science works.

Well if you want to get all scientific and figure out exactly what is going on, that is up to you.
I will trust the people who have already done this research, and who all agree that they derive energy from it.
I am done here...
