I would have never thought this. Are Pluteus actives really that potent? How many did you find and how do they taste?

they taste like an alkaloid pluteus, pretty much like P. cervinus. Pluteus can be pretty potent, I think we need all new data for concentrations using freshly dried samples. If you have any of those bluing pluteus left I would love to scope them!

They are something much more interesting than ovoids......Melanophyllum!

Eat them and report back. But don't eat all of them, save a dried collection also. When it is completely dry put it in a ziplock bag and label it with the mushroomobserver.org observation number.
I'll do that with the next batch I find Alan.

They are pretty potent,at least all the ones I found this season are.I've also been finding them since July, and it's been a lot.I just now decided to start photographing them. The season may be over though,I don't usually find em this late. They also don't taste bad,but then again cubes don't taste bad to me either.

Well Pluteus phaeocyanopus looks very similar to P. cyanopus and differs microscopically.
