Microwave? Or just download shitloads of viruses, i would imagine enough of the right virus would make it hard to determine what you actually did. Or just hide the laptop, bury all the different parts in completely random locations, if your fast enough that'd only take 45 seconds.

have you considered maybe hiding the laptop? like a quick escape for the laptop? some kind of UAV to carry it away?

Thermite.
In college I listened to a lecture from a US marshall doing child porn raids. Every good child porn server is wired with thermite as a boobytrap. If the cops come knocking the computers melt down. They had evidence only from the computers that didn't go off. The owner of the servers got life but he'd have walked if the devices all worked as he thought they would.

This. A properly encrypted hard drive is un-crackable within your life time unless quantum computers become viable.

Why does OP have to get rid of a phone in 15 seconds. What could be so hot that it can't get seen by anyone else. I know what I think and judging by some of the responses I'd say we all pretty much know.

There is no way that works. Forensic data recovery will recover every bit of data that is "erased." They can even get data off a disk that has had a 7 pass/rewrite done to it.
Only a strong electromagnet will do that he wants.
Um I would love to see anything relating to that. Cause I've read quite a bit that just a single pass is enough.
One thing you need to ask yourself is what you're hiding from and why. Obviously there is technology and the ability exists I'm sure to recover bits from just about any damaged medium., However the funds and effort that would need to be applied is dependent on how bad they want to get into it. If you're worried about police finding harassing IM's then chances are they wont waste much time, but if you're into some drug enterprising shlopsauce involving smuggling child porn stars across the globe then you may want to put more effort into being safe.
You need to ask yourself who and why and how, these are the utmost important functions in the equation you are asking.

The government has been attempting, and most likely has, backdoored most available encryption software. Especially the most often used. TrueCrypt is not as secure as many think it is. I have read recently about different governments decrypting truecrypt encrypted drives. (most likely due to weak passwords) If I can find the link I will post it.
Communications encryption are also not as secure as you'd think.

I imagine in these cases it is most likely only used in major cases, not your average drug case.

Again, who are you trying to hide from and why. If you are some gov't spy caught up in some nonsense, yeah they might spend the effort to decrypt AES or any other things via bruteforce, but again it all depends on what you're hiding from who and why.

My point was that it is possible, not that it is probable. I'm sure the government will not waste their powerful resources to prosecute a minor offender.

Secret Documents Reveal N.S.A. Campaign Against Encryption
Quote:
Documents show that the N.S.A. has been waging a war against encryption using a battery of methods that include working with industry to weaken encryption standards, making design changes to cryptographic software, and pushing international encryption standards it knows it can break...
This excerpt from the N.S.A.’s 2013 budget request outlines the ways in which the agency circumvents the encryption protection of everyday Internet communications. The Sigint Enabling Project involves industry relationships, clandestine changes to commercial software to weaken encryption, and lobbying for encryption standards it can crack...
