Air conditioning and high humidity
    #18801052 - 09/04/13 09:13 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Hey, so I want to build a FC in front of my AC. To get the air cold enough and to not waste electricity, the AC will need to recycle some of the air inside of the FC. I'm worried that running AC with 90-100% RH in the intake is bad for the AC unit. Assuming I insulate it well, the AC may only need to be on for a 1-2 hours/day but even with the AC off, I'm worried the condensation may damage the circuits. Anyone know?

What kind of FC?

Cuz if you're planning on a shotgun fruiting chamber, that is a definite no-no. You won't be able to maintain high humidity with that constant air flow.

If it's a mono tub then that's probably not even necessary but don't take my word on that statement. I've never worked with mono's yet.

Ah, I should have been more clear. I'm planning on making a pretty large-ish primarily for things other than cubes that need the lower temperatures.  I'll be running a humidifier inside so humidity is not an issue.

I have not done the computations yet but I'm guessing I want 10 percent fresh air in the AC intake and 90 percent recycled air in the FC.

i.e.

FC recycled air ------(90%)------->  intake --> AC --> outtake --> FC
outside (fresh) air ----(10%)----------^

So assuming FC recycled air is 100% RH than the intake to the AC will be something like 90% RH.
