just quickreply for convenience.
Man, I think the salafists are starting to really gain the upperhand in Syria, im frightful, I saw numerous statements just release by Jabhat Al Nusra, their formal merger with ISIL is scary. We need to fucking marginalize these people or we are going to be in a nasty situation.
A Alawite elderly preacher known for fiery sermons against Sunni salafist aggressors was recently executed in "tit" for "tat" retaliatory strikes. Im afraid Nusra, and Ahrar Al Sham are in this more to carve out a fiefdom for themselves and religious inclusion is not something they will respect. Goddammit im so sick of this obstructionism, we need to absolutely throw our weight behind the moderates. If we don't, then we may see a Islamic state in the north and west of Syria, bordering on Kurdish regions that are near being under complete PYD support. 450 Kurds were recently gunned down last month on clashes between Al Nusra and Kurdish PYD, further fragmentation has also split the FSA down the middle, both forming their own respective military councils. I grow very very fearful, and the foot dragging by congress is going to exacerbate the problem.
Funny the only time limited strikes and covert operations could really influence events in Syria, then people start raising the spectres of past military aggression that ended in failure (funny I was mocked years ago when I criticized the surge for being nothing but a temporary Band-Aid and that the real reason for progress was the Awakening Councils who were growing sick of expanding foreign influence under Al Qaeda, that Al Qaeda would only bide its time, be good little boys, after all military maxim states to never attack an enemy at his strongest.)
While the US and the world community twiddles its fucking thumbs, Islamic hardliners are being more seen as committed to liberation of Syria from Assad, but the FSA military council I guarantee is the strongest check. WE CAN NOT ALLOW ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) to dominate their respective fiefdoms, they need to be absolutely marginalized, a fullscale weapons supplying campaign will empower the FSA,who unlike the ISIL will respect other religons (maybe as long as they pay the Jizya)They need ATGMs and Man portable surface to air rockets. Also, we need to develop the FSA, away from being a umbrella organization for thousands of groups and into a more cohesive group.
The Lebanese civil war is a great historical showcase of how Syrian government runs its foreign policy. A good history lesson in IMO (though who ive disagreed many times with) Is a book by Thomas Friedman called From Beirut to Jerusalem. It has been criticized but I think it does accurately portray that war, and how Syria used Hizb-Allah to advance Syrian and Iranian interests in a vulnerable area of Israel. A definite good read for those trying to understand the historical factors of Syria being a serious powderkeg.

Cool. I'll get right on it.

Are you always such an angry individual? Or are you just having a bad day?
Perhaps that's why you won't provide proof.

Your links ... The original link for the thread, one to CS Monitor that claims Sarah Palin isn't an idiot. The original link again, One to Wikipedia about Islam, one to Wikipedia about the FSA (which you selectively quoted to try and prove your lies) One to the same article I linked to. None of these links actually help your case though.

Or are you stating as fact that which is clearly opinion?
o·pin·ion əˈpinyən/ noun noun: opinion; plural noun: opinions
1.a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
You can find the reports here
Here's just a few of the lies:
Quote:
-- Statements and implications by the President and Secretary of State suggesting that Iraq and al-Qa'ida had a partnership, or that Iraq had provided al-Qa'ida with weapons training, were not substantiated by the intelligence.
-- Statements by the President and the Vice President indicating that Saddam Hussein was prepared to give weapons of mass destruction to terrorist groups for attacks against the United States were contradicted by available intelligence information.
-- Statements by President Bush and Vice President Cheney regarding the postwar situation in Iraq, in terms of the political, security, and economic, did not reflect the concerns and uncertainties expressed in the intelligence products.
-- Statements by the President and Vice President prior to the October 2002 National Intelligence Estimate regarding Iraq's chemical weapons production capability and activities did not reflect the intelligence community's uncertainties as to whether such production was ongoing.
-- The Secretary of Defense's statement that the Iraqi government operated underground WMD facilities that were not vulnerable to conventional airstrikes because they were underground and deeply buried was not substantiated by available intelligence information.
-- The Intelligence Community did not confirm that Muhammad Atta met an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague in 2001 as the Vice President repeatedly claimed.
This is so easily verifiable, why not just admit it?
