I was looking for some persicina this morning and came across lots of what I think are amanita. I didn't have my camera so I don't have a picture, maybe I can describe it well enough for a possible I.d. Found in NW Georgia under large pine trees. Very large mushroom, stem 8-10'' and the cap 6-8'' ( that's the largest I found I think) . Abrupt bulb but it sort of flowed into the stem without a rim. Pretty fragile partial veil with the stem being very "shaggy". Whole mushroom is white with the cap having brown universal veil remnants. Very strong smell. I smelled them way before I saw them in most cases. That's all I can really remember off the top of my head...sorry. thanks for any input.

Were there any reddish/pink tones where injured? Sounds more like Amanita rubescens group. You will know a persicina when you have one.

I was just curious about amanita in general is all. I have one picture I took on my phone, like I mentioned before, I forgot my camera in the car this morning (I know...retarded...and I was a good mile or so into the woods before I realized) http://imgur.com/2re8FbZ
