Went out yesterday and today looking for subbs and liberty in northern nh... Came up with some interesting finds that have me a little confused.
Specimen 1: Growing in a field that had been recently hayed typically in the grass, growing singular or in small groups of 2-3.
Cap was off white to yellowish brown at the tip with a slight nipple, gills were rusty brown upon picking attached narrowly at the top of the stem.
Stem was white to off white 3-4 inches long on on most, hollow and fibrous, 2-3mm
Spore print - dark rusty brown
No bruising obsereved

Sorry, was a little too excited with my possible liberty find that I didn't take any pictures of fruits in the habitat... Last pic is the actual habitat though Upon drying the cap has gotten darker and the stem has shrunk to about the diameter of a piece of floss. The two brown prints to the left are the same mushrooms, the one to the right is a smaller one that I found, definitely young and printed out purple/black.

The brown printing pointed-capped ones are Conocybe. The one that printed purplish brown is more interesting and needs to be photographed better. It could be a Panaeolus species.

Thanks! C. Cyanopus? That's active isn't it? Will try to find more of the purple black printing ones after a good rain, my first thought upon finding that one was P. Subb but shouldn't tht print out like jet black?

Upon reading a little on conocybe shouldn't the cap lighten as it dries and should I be seeing any blue staining? As far as I can see not one of these little guys has any bluing... Dry smell is a little salty, it smells like the typical taste of a shroom if you know what I mean.
Thanks

There are many species of Conocybe, some of them toxic.

Here are a few more from a hunt today in the same general area...
Still looking for liberty cap since I wasn't convinced of the first find after spore printing etc... And now that they may be a toxic shroom. Found these little ones today near the field but in more of a lawn. They were hidden underneath the grass in small troops of 6 or so. All were in pinning stages and being that today was super hot they are all dry already. Being that these were young and half dried out I'm having trouble picking out to many specific features. Color is brown overall, stem is bare with vertical straitions twisting their way down and gets larger toward the base. Gill color looks to be about the same as the cap on the one that had opened. All to dry or young to spore print. Will return to the area later hopefully I'll see some older specimens.

Find #2 on the day was this bad larry... Growing solitary on the edge of the forest bordering the field in some sedge grass. Chestnut brown cap about 1.5 inches in diameter. Gills dark grayish purple ( this is the feature that really caught my attention) Stem off white with small veil solid upon breaking, pithy. Spore print is black/purplish very akin to the gill color No blue staining or bruising has been obsereved.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Obviously spec. #2 is not a lib cap but the brown color and purple gills had me intrigued

Can't tell what #1 is. Maybe Lacrymaria lacrymabunda
#2 is a storpharia.

Stropharia rugosoannulata is usually much bigger. Some Stropharia are toxic, I wouldn't recommend eating it.

You should see immediate blue bruising at the base especially on that of older fruit bodies. You would have no doubt about calling it bluing.
