I was wondering about the best way to store spores. I had bought some before but I left my house for a while and my roommate removed them from my fridge. They have been in a box in the dark for like 6 months now at room temperature. 60 to 70 degrees. I was wondering of they are still viable or if I must big more.

Syringes that old will work fine. I've never kept any in the fridge and have used them years later.

This is interesting because I recently found a very low-priced deal on a pack of microscopy supplies, 5 for 25. (A startup vendor). When it first arrived, it looked basically the same as a "shroomery sponsor" syringe, and I could see healthy looking spores floating around. This was for actual microscopy and perhaps a project in a few months, since I've never had a syringe go bad. However, when I checked on them about 2 months later (kept in 65-75 degree room temp), the spores had formed a "web" inside each one of those syringes, one that would not dissipate even after shaking hard. I also had 2 others from a shroomery sponsor from even longer ago, and I decided to check on them. These were AMAZING syringes when I bought them, but most of them had the same problem: the spores seemed to all clump together. I strongly believe this means the syringes went bad, and there was one more, which I guess was created more recently, which would still dissipate when shaken, so this one was still okay, and I decided to put it in the fridge. This proves to me that syringes indeed do go bad after a few months without the fridge. When getting from my favorite shroomery sponsor, it says on the syringe to keep in the 30s if storing

-stored syringes several months inoriginal shipping box in fridge as soon as they arrived because of forseen delays. -When used there was a large clump floating around which would not break up and syringe was not cloudy black like it should have been. -agar contammed with first use. -pink mold -havent ever had a problem with contams b4 this. -goes to show sometimes things just don't work out no matter how hard you try.

Were these sponsor syringes? Or homemade? Or other?
Usually it shouldn't matter apparently if it was in the fridge for a few months. That does not explain the pink contam to me. The only place I heard of pink contams was this one place called E****T*n***, HOWEVER, at the same time, I know someone IRL who has had great success with this vendor, even though on this forum alot of people seem to have issues with it. I've been wary of using them (and could find better prices and quality through sponsors) but at the same time I see that my friend has had no issues at all, quite a lot of success actually.
