Sunglasses are kind of crazy to think about.

A couple years back I was in this really small town in upstate new york in the spring time. This is when all the people come out of the cracks from being inside all winter. The strangest looking people come out and walk the streets. One day there was this huge ogor looking lady and she was wearing sunglasses. It was a bright day and she was the only one in her crew that was wearing shades..... This all got me thinking how humans have evolved so much to make sunglasses and how the weirdest people in the world also wear them. It is some crazy shit I think about that doesn't really make sense to me, but I still love thinking about it. What do you think about all this?

I wear sunglasses at night. But then I wear sunglasses because I get migraines, and become super sensitive to light.

I have a polarized pair of Oakley Straight. I also love them. They fit my face perfect and block then sung amazingly. My X girlfriend works at a sunglass hut and I have gotten so many pairs from her, most were lost or broken. I think I want to eventual get a pair of the chrome oakley's with prescription lenses. They would be probably my last pair for atleast 5 years.

I know a guy that wore them constantly because he had macular degeneration and apparently they slowed the degeneration part of it down a lot or something. Sunglasses are a necessity for driving in the day time or fishing and shit like that.

I have extremely sensitive eyes, sometimes I need sunglasses when it isn't even sunny! For example when it is a very cloudy day, sometimes the reflections of the sun and clouds are brighter for me than when it is sunny.
On sunny days, the reflection of the sun on the sidewalk/buildings make it difficult for me to see as well.
I have blue eyes, so this might contribute to it. I also get migraines, so maybe its a CNS (central nervous system) adaption?

I like to imagine a pasty white guy with shades showing up at a remote village in Africa where the people have never seen white people before and that they probably think the dude is a vampire or something (I know they wouldn't know what a vampire is but you know what I mean).

That is a good visualization. The dude also has to move awkwardly like a wonder bread dude.

Me too I used to go snow blind and start barfing and pass out. Or reflective surfaces shining at my face. Been wearing sunglasses everyday since. Sunny days and bright lights make me squint so hard. Its like I got a scowl on my face, forehead wrinkles and crows feet fml

I squint so hard that it gives me a headache. I can't go outside anymore without sunglasses or I seriously can't see anything, its just too bright.
I always wear polarized too, to cut down on some of the glare.

I think sunglasses were designed to protect our eyes from harmful UVB and UVA rays. More like logical. Which is kind of the opposite of crazy.

Yeah I fish a lot so I'm always rocking polarized. I love looking at the water and being able to see through the reflections. I also like the copper/rose colored lenses. Makes every color so much more vivid. Like in spring and fall when the plants are flowering or changing color. Its like I'm trippin out.

Yeah, specifically.
Thats why legit name brands aren't just all talk, they are protecting your eyes from those harmful rays.
Those gas station sunglasses, they just magnify your eye and do MORE harm then good even though you feel as if they are better because you can relax your face muscles and stop squinting.

I've read papers from qualified Opthalmologists reporting certain cancers developing in people who wear sunglasses. Also chronologically linking the invention of sunglasses with a dramatic increase of cancers. They theorized that certain vital chemicals are created in your eyes as sun light passes through similar to how your skin creates VD using light.
I've never worn them and I think they look utterly ridiculous My logic with sun glasses is that light has been passing through your species eyes for millions of years, abruptly removing light can't be good.
It has been my experience that each time a part of nature is removed from ones life, one has more problems.
Harmful UVB light? Marketing tactic. Sunglasses are a new invention relatively speaking. The species did fine without them, obviously.

Although I totally understand where you are coming from and it does make sense.
Were not totally removing sunlight as a whole from our eyes. More of like an every day precaution. One benefit I do know of is the lack of cataracts in people who were sunglasses most of the time.
When you see people with yellow looking eyes, mostly in older folks, a lot of it has to do with sun exposure.

This and the yellow tinted polarized. They make the colors look so amazing, far superior to the blue/grey tint polarized.
