They look like Gyms to me. Try putting them in the fridge for 8 hours to see if any blue green bruising becomes apparent.

Will try, I found them looking for hen of the woods, they were in my backpack for a while and took some abuse. Should I post a picture of what I think is bruising on them?

The spore print looks kinda brown to me, It should be a thick orange. How long did you let them sit for?

They are a Pholiota species. Not Jilms. Sorry bud. Jilms wouldn't have a slimy cap.

Awesome. Was it small still or full grown? I found some babies today. Gotta give 'em a few weeks.

It was around a pound with one just starting to forming next to it. The larger was starting to turn brown on the edges so I picked and had it for dinner. Bad call?

I think it could have gone longer perhaps, but it depends on the substrate I guess. If it was big enough for a meal, hell, why not!

I usually wait til the pore surface really matures and it will form almost like a tooth fungus. The pores kind of project outward when they are fully mature.

It was awesome, even though I could not get quite all the dirt out, I think recent rain is to blame for that. Sorry I suck with pictures.
