Oh well. I will give it the love and constant attention that any mushroom growing in this house will receive. We dont discriminate here at Hasty's Lego and Mushroom Emporium.

This has nothing to do with cubes, potency, or identification. There's super potent cube isolates that don't bruise blue at all.

Yes, but it its a good indicator. All mushrooms that bruise blue and have a black/purple spore print are active.

Not for potency but very relevant for identification.

Even if it bruises blue, this does not mean it is a cube, or even safe to eat.
ANd by the way, that is not a cube....

here it is now:

been watchin it grow all day heh. Yeah totally not a cube, the only reason it even crossed my mind was the spore shot I gave the pot.
Either way, I dont know how to take it. Good mushroom juju for the house? or that its so humid and sporeloaded that stuffs growing anywhere it can :p
Ill go with the former!

Remove it before it sporulates. Otherwise, they will be popping up in your house plants more often. I hate, HATE inky caps, because they're always growing in my soil of my indoor house plants. Useless bastards.

Boletus luridus some varieties stain blue and print is olive-brown to black. Not that It would be confused with Cubes but that's just not true.

I'm quoting Alan Rockefeller when I said that so maybe you should ask him.

For what it's worth no one is going to run across anything that wont fit that statement, probably. I find it hard to believe Alan would have said something like that without caveat as no mycologist/scientist would make a statement like that seeing as it's believed that there's 1000s of species yet to be discovered especially in tropical areas and rainforests. I don't think we are going to find new species in suburban areas though.

The little mushroom that was growing in the pot is now dead.
This thread is jealous of the mushroom.

Many Boletus species stain blue and are toxic, but those have an olive brown spore print.
All mushrooms that have a purple brown or black spore print and bruise blue are active, containing psilocin and psilocybin. There are some other psilocybin mushrooms that do not follow those guidelines, and but no inactive or toxic ones that do.

Nah, no caveat is needed. There are a lot of mushrooms, but the purple brown / black spored subset is much smaller, and that subset of species contains very few toxic mushrooms, and the toxic ones do not stain blue.
Regarding OP's post, it is almost certainly a Conocybe. Information about the caulocystidia is needed to determine which section of Conocybe it belongs in.
