I found them on a lawn beside a farm that keeps race horses.

the reddy brown stems look promising.
But a spore print would go a long way in helping to ID these
Also, it may just be the lighting or it may just be me but I'm sure there are bluish tints on some of the stems, can you confirm that OP?

they really look like pans, so i dont think a spore print will help
they are not sceaming cints to me, id wait for a t.i.
edit: looked over them a few times, its really confusing me, i think you may have a mixed collection
double edit: maybe they are cincts, this time i paid attention to your words, and ive never found lawn cincts before, that could be whats throwing me off

Brown spore prints would mean they aren't Cinctulus. It's worth doing a spore print just to shorten the list of what Panaeolus sp. they are.
I'm leaning towards Cinctulus but wait for a T.I before you consume them

brown spore prints would mean they arnt paneaolus at all, all paneaoulus have jet black prints
you might be thinking of Panaeolina foenisecii which has dark brown spore print
edit: now im thinking they arnt paneaolus, ok o.p you should spore print them

I suggested doing a spore print because Foenisecii are commonly mistaken for Cinctulus.

I see a mixed collection as well. The ones with the lighter caps, more brownish gills, thicker whitish stems are Panaeolina foenisecii. The others with the darker band on the cap, a more "sparkled" appearance to the cap, darker charcoal brown-black gills, and slender reddish stems which darken when pinched are Panaeolus cinctulus.

They may very well all be cinctulus, because even on some of the ones I suspect to be foes, I see some blue tones at the stem bases.

They're cinctulus maygne. I'd put money on it.

@ nikoche, its very possible they are Panaeolus cinctulus, its also possible you have P. olivaceus or P. fimicola. Take your pick, if all you care about is they're active or not, then they probably are. If you want better IDs try taking pics of them in the field before the cap fades, save several specimens for microscopy and make sure you label them well.

Betting on faded Panaeolus IDs sounds like a good way to lose money.

Not if you know what you know. And then if you're proven wrong, you're willing to give that money to someone who sets your information right. Of course a scope would solve all questions, but I like to think because of the size, habitat, macroscopic features, and the bluing, that they are indeed cinctulus. Olivaceus seem like a pretty unique species with subtle yet distinct characteristics of the cap shape and appearance, and fimicola are usually much darker and smaller, found in very low nitrogen sandy soils. The habitat is crucial in this situation with the stables and race horses nearby.
